My Updates

Gravesend RNLI volunteers take on UK’s tallest Tower Run in full kit on October 25th.

Tuesday 10th Jun
Gravesend RNLI crew members Russell Allen and Ashley Bard are going above and beyond, quite literally, as they tackle the Tower Run at 22 Bishopsgate, the tallest building in the City of London.

Wearing their full operational PPE, the pair will climb all 58 floors to raise vital funds for their lifeboat station. Taking on the UK’s toughest Tower Run event is no small feat, especially while wearing their RNLI drysuits.

Their challenge is not just a test of endurance, but a show of commitment to the RNLI and the lifesaving work it does on the Thames. Every step they climb helps support the equipment, training, and resources needed to save lives at sea.

Support Russell and Ashley as they push themselves to the limit for a cause close to their hearts.

Good luck and I hope you reach your goal and beyond. My great great uncle (WC Bradley) was saving lives at sea before the RNLI came into being. He worked for 19 years at the end of Southend Pier. Subsequently one of Southend’s first life boats was named after him. Hope you find mind me sharing that with you. I wish you both well.
