I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

DAY 31 FINAL UPDATE

Friday 31st May
Made it to 125miles in the month.  Many thanks for those who have been following my progress and sponsoring me for the RNLI. An added bonus is that the NHS no longer consider me overweight, their BMI calculator says I am in the healthy weight category.  First time ever!!  Don't forget you can still sponsor me via this page if you have any spare £s.

Day 27

Monday 27th May
4 days to go and I am trying for 125 miles in total.  It will be close but I hope to get there :-)

Day 25 update

Saturday 25th May
See - still plodding on until the end of the month.

Keeping going

Saturday 25th May
Looking back at the finish line whilst I still  carry on :-)

wooshing past the finish line. But don't fret - I'm carrying on till the end of the month

Saturday 25th May
I'm keeping going now.

Friday 24th May

Friday 24th May

Day 23 update

Thursday 23rd May
It's getting quite close now!

DAY 22 Update

Thursday 23rd May
Nearly didn't get out today - lots of rain.  But it cleared up :-)

Day 21 update

Tuesday 21st May
Just missed the rain today.  The finish line is getting closer but I will go on to the end of the month to see just how far I can go.

Day 17 update

Friday 17th May
Just a normal steady day.  I didn't count the miles I did playing lawn bowls this afternoon.  Suffice to say we won!

Day 15 Update

Wednesday 15th May
15 days gone.  16 days to go.  I've gone through the 60 mile barrier.
If I didn't keep going back home every time I could be sunning myself on Bournemouth beach!

Day 14 Update

Tuesday 14th May
No internet over the last couple of days to be able to update so here we are at day 14.  Still going strong and feet better just to show that trainers are better than sandals!  You are never too old to learn new things :-)

Day 12 update

Sunday 12th May
Rain forecast for tomorrow.  See what effect that has!  Should hit 50 miles tomorrow.

Day 11 update

Saturday 11th May
Slow day today.  Must improve!

Day 10 Update

Friday 10th May
Need i say more?  :-)

Day 8 update

Wednesday 8th May
I had to pass a Mr Whippy van three times on this route.  Resisted the first two times :-) .  It was hot and we are not used to that!

Day 7 update

Tuesday 7th May
Well on course for the target distance it seems.  Today made up for yesterday's poor show!

Day 6 update

Tuesday 7th May
a bit shy of my target - possible covid jab reaction upset my plans!

Day 4 update

Saturday 4th May
Still on course for 100 miles in May.  Possible Covid jab adverse reaction has limited my walks today. But I'm  man - I can take it !

Day 3 update
