I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

Day 29 - mile plus

Wednesday 29th May
Nothing like going to Oncology to get the steps up. Starting to feel a bit better so on track to do before the end of month. X

Day 28- Bed to Go

Tuesday 28th May
Taken 4 days to get back so .71 of a mile wasn't bad. Will try harder. Xx

Day 24 - Haircut and Mile.

Friday 24th May
Ha ha not showing you my hair but here is the mile . X

Day 23 - Back on Track.

Thursday 23rd May
A litter pick round the village kept me going the mile. Happy 😊

Day 22 - Chemo Day

Wednesday 22nd May
Never fails. Crawl to the Chemo unit and back . Hope the steroids kick in tomorrow and I get a proper walk. X

Thanks to RNLI Flamborough

Tuesday 21st May
Sorry not been well at all the last few days so progress is slow. However Thanks to Flamborough RNLI for another collection in support of my Mile a Day. £60.50 collected today. X

Day 19 - Fresh Air and Sunshine

Sunday 19th May
Felt a bit better today so ventured out for a short walk. Ended up 1.48 mile and 3322 steps.

Day 18 - Another Home / Garden Day

Sunday 19th May
Not been well at all on this Chemo Cycle. Short of breath but managed a shuffle around the house and Garden to keep up.. X

Day 17 - Home Bound.

Saturday 18th May
Not feeling great. So I clocked my Mile up round the house and garden.

Day 16- Treadmill

Thursday 16th May
Still a bit ropey from yesterday so stayed home in reality. On the treadmill I was on Chatham Beach, Cape Cod.  Managed the mile. Happy and surprised.

Day 15 - Chemo Day

Wednesday 15th May
Easy one to clock up. 1/2 mile from the car park to the Chemo unit and back. See how I feel tomorrow. X

Day 14 - Treadmill walk to Montone Italy

Tuesday 14th May
Thank goodness feeling a little better today so did a treadmill walk . Montone is a Medieval Hill Town in Italy. Might have to go there for real sometime.

Day 13

Monday 13th May
Unlucky for me . Not very well. Only 1/2 mile. Will make it up.

Day 12- Coffee and Cake

Sunday 12th May
You might see on my blog a straight line that goes from South Landing to the top road....I forgot to resume my walk button after Coffee and Cake at the Flamborough Lifeboat Station. actual mileage was 2 mile and 4489 steps.

Day 11 -Race the Fog

Saturday 11th May
Should have been Race the Waves in Bridlington. However the fog came down and it was not safe to race. There was no parking near so it was a long walk from The Lobster Pot.

Day 10 - Post Office , Co-op and Litter Pick

Friday 10th May
After yesterday gallivanting in the sun , I really am a bit slow with headache today. So did chores in the village post outs, recycling, shopping and litter pick.

Day 9 - Yesteryears Day Burton Fleming

Thursday 9th May
Didn't set the tracker as it would just show me going round and round a field. My brother showing off his MG to Pat from Flamborough RNLI.  Well over did it again....but what a lovely day. Sleep well tonight.

Day 8 -Round Flamborough

Wednesday 8th May
Not feeling the best today so just a lap around Flamborough within easy reach of home.

Day 7 and a Memorial Service.

Tuesday 7th May
To achieve my mile today I added a village walk to my attendance at a Memorial Service in the village.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the double fishing boat tragedy which occurred at Flamborough on the 7th May 1984. That fateful day the coble Carole Sandra and the charter launch North Wind III foundered close under the cliffs and 7 lives were lost. On Tuesday the 7th May a short commemorative service took place at Cameron Gardens at 10:00 followed by wreath laying at the memorial in Chapel Street. Wreaths were laid by representatives from Bridlington, Filey and Flamborough RNLI, HM Coastguard, Flamborough Parish Council, Flamborough School Council, Flamborough Fishermen's Memorial Group and the North Landing Fishermen, along with tributes from family of those lost. x

Bempton.

Monday 6th May
Not feeling too bad today. So been to RNLI coffee and fund raiser at Bempton. Then onto Bempton Cliffs for my walk. It was packed I walked half way back from the Cliffs before Richard managed to get the camper out and pick me up. X

Home Day

Sunday 5th May
Today has been an accumulation of little walks at home. But weak but will be better tomorrow. X

Day 4- Tredmill Cheat.

Saturday 4th May
Today I am a bit like the weather - Flat. So I put a video on of the Alhambra  and Gardens on my phone and stepped up to the tread mill. Done it. x

Day 3 - Danes and Crofts Hill

Friday 3rd May
To say I haven't had much sleep , I decided to do a walk before the rain came. Shattered now but really pleased and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd May
A Litter Pick Walk to see the sea. Shame it is foggy at sea. Techno blip the map has cut off some of my walk but it shows I passed a mile. Actual 1.64 miles

Day one.

Wednesday 1st May
Isn't it handy that it is exactly 1/2 mile from the car park to the Chemo Unit at Scarborough Hospital. So by the time I was back to the car park and then walked in home, I have done 1 mile 1/4. Success day 1 done.

Hat is ready. Am I
