I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Starting to find my groove with running now! Hoping for a slightly quicker time tomorrow.

Day 13- First treadmill run 🏃‍♀️

Tuesday 14th May
First run on the treadmill today- really enjoyed it- especially being able to keep a constant watch on my pace and time.

Day 12- PB!

Sunday 12th May
So happy with a 13 minute 45 second run today. Aiming for a comfortable 15 minutes tomorrow!

Day 11- hot morning run!

Really enjoyed myself today! The weather just made the view all that better ✨

Day 10- solo school run

Saturday 11th May
Run before the children arrived into school today! Wasn’t the same without them but didn’t want them overheating as weather is due to be a scorcher today.

Super impressed with how my cadence has increased today!

Day 8- 14 minute run

Wednesday 8th May
Starting to run the mile comfortably within the 14 minute mark. (Albeit that being very slow for regular runners!) Aiming for a 13 minute time by May 31st ✨

Day 7- steady run

Tuesday 7th May
Back to the playground today for 22 laps (which equates to 1 mile/1.61km).

Day 6- Back to the canal… under 1 min quicker 💨

Monday 6th May
Six days in and I am seriously starting to enjoy myself! Less breathless walking up the stairs, increased energy (for now 😂). Cannot wait to have my running buddies back with me tomorrow!

This May weather has been atrocious, but running in the rain is quickly becoming my favourite!

Day 4- Canal run

Saturday 4th May
So as it turns out… incline and terrain impact your run ALOT 😂. Enjoyed this route and will definitely use it again in the coming days. (Although some parts are steep AND gravelly!)

Day 3 🏃‍♀️

Friday 3rd May
Managed to run the mile under 15 minutes today, so super impressed with that! Hoping to get out on a nice route by the canal tomorrow 💦

First running workout… ever!

Thursday 2nd May
Wasn’t joking when I said I was completely new to running. My apple fitness app gave me this badge yesterday to mark my first EVER running workout 🏃‍♀️

A VERY rainy run!

Thursday 2nd May
After an eventful drive to work (due to torrential rain and flooding) I was joined by my wonderful class again, at the later time of 10:50 to conquer another mile! 2 mins reduction from the mile yesterday! ✨

Wednesday 1st May
A rainy tarmac run today, joined by my lovely class to keep me company. 17 minute mile- hoping to reduce this as the month progresses! 💪🏼
