My Updates

Just Keep Running 🏃‍♀️

Monday 12th May
Almost halfway through the month and I’ve kept up my end of the bargain so far. I’m slowly creeping towards £500 🤩 which would honestly be so amazing and I can’t thank you all enough! My body is definitely feeling it now, especially after a Sunday morning beating on the D-Class 🥴

Mile 1 Complete ✅

Thursday 1st May

Tomorrow is the Day! 🏃‍♀️

Wednesday 30th Apr
I’ve made it through 8 weeks of Couch to 5k and I’m happy to report that I can now run a mile without stopping, although the beautiful weather is making that difficult 🥵

I’m still not much of a runner, I’m still slow and I still take little walking breaks (which I won’t be doing in the May challenge!) - but I’ve come so far from being so unfit that running for 2 minutes straight was a challenge

I’m taking a well-needed night off the running tonight to do my weekly Wednesday night down the Lifeboat Station, ready for 31+ miles in May!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! ❤️

Hard Work Pays Off

Friday 25th Apr
4 weeks ago I was running at 13:53/mile… Today I took almost TWO WHOLE MINUTES off that time! I know it isn’t a big deal to a lot of people (and to a lot of people 12:00/mi is slow 🐢) but seeing the improvements I’ve made as a result of my commitment makes *most* of the pain feel worth while. It will be interesting to see my improvements by the end of May! 🤞🏼

1 Week To Go!

Thursday 24th Apr
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been a bit lax with my Couch to 5K training the past 2 weeks….
I’ll be suffering through some 25 minute runs over the next few evenings! 🏃‍♀️
I’m going to try and squeeze in an extra week of C25K before the challenge starts in hopes it makes things feel easier 😬

I’ve found exercise difficult since my crash in 2023, my back really feels it the next day so I’m hoping the regular exercise might be more beneficial than a hindrance
But a challenge is a challenge so I will be completing it one way or another! 💪🏼

19 Days to Go 🏃‍♀️

Saturday 12th Apr
Just over 2 weeks to go until the Mayday Mile Challenge starts!

I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly dreading it.
I’m still struggling to get into the swing of things and want to give up after 5 minutes of running, the struggle is real!

But, a challenge is meant to be challenging and I’ve raised over £250 so far which I never even imagined I would do, so thank you all so so much!! 🤩

I’m tracking my training progress on Strava and will also be uploading the daily runs in May, so follow along to give me some much needed motivation

I have just under £150 to raise by the end of May to meet my target, so please share and if you can donate any amount at all I will be over the moon

THANK YOU! ❤️

Go Big or Go Home

Wednesday 2nd Apr
With just under 1 month until the challenge starts I’ve already hit my original target of £125 and I’m nearing my second target of £250!

According to Google, we’ve raised enough to buy a thermal suit, with some change

  • Drysuit (ILB): £805
  • Thermal suit (ILB): £150
  • Lifejacket: £590
  • Helmet: £350
  • Helly Hansen RNLI 200 Hooded Jacket (Men's): £127
  • Helly Hansen RNLI 200 Insulator Vest (Women's): £96
  • Helly Hansen RNLI 200 Trucker Cap: £22
  • Helly Hansen RNLI 200 Half Zip Daybreaker Fleece (Men's): £60
  • Inshore Rescue Boat: £13,000
  • D class inshore lifeboat: £101,000
  • B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat:£322,000
  • Shannon class all-weather lifeboat: £2.78M

So, let’s raise the stakes!

£400 will split the cost of a few pieces of kit

Any more will be an absolute bonus.

I still can’t believe we smashed the £125 target before March was out! Hopefully we can hit £400 by the end of May 🤞🏼

Thank you all for your support!

WOW!

Wednesday 26th Mar

WOW!

We’ve smashed my original target of £125 and it’s still March!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has donated or shared, I’m honestly speechless 🥺

I still have 2 months to go until the end of May, so I’m DOUBLING my target!

£250, hopefully we can reach it! 🤞🏼

No Spring Chicken

Tuesday 18th Mar
In May, I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge and running a mile every day

Fun fact: 10+ years ago I used to run 5k almost daily and often 10k when I had the time. Now I’m out of breath climbing the stairs after a long day of sitting in the office 🫠 so believe me, this will be a challenge!

The RNLI is a charity that is close to my heart and the volunteers are some of the most selfless people I’ve met. Not only do they risk their lives to save others, they do it any hour of the day and night, including on Christmas.

There’s a lot of kit required to allow the RNLI to do their job and none of it is cheap.

I’m hoping to raise £125 to help towards kit and operational costs so please donate if you can. I’ll be over the moon if I hit my target
