I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

Hi, I'm Phoebe and I'm 11 years old and this May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

As a PADI certified diver and, when not in the water, a regular visitor to the beach and coasts the RNLI is a charity I hope I never need the help of.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Remembering Pat

Friday 24th May
Today our walk took us around the Estate of Button House! Where we discovered Humphrey high up on a shelf, tracked down Thomas' tree, found Fanny's bedroom, remembered Pat at the stump and stumbled upon Robin's mouse family hole.

Alexa Lied

Friday 17th May
Beautiful sunny weather all day but at 3pm a big black cloud came over and it looked like rain. Alexa informed me that there's only a chance of rain at 8pm so out we went without wet weather gear. Needless to say, the heavens opened! Torrential rain for the duration of our walk with us hopping and running between trees, the church and village shop to try to get some shelter. This is the resulting look once we got home. Perhaps we should name it the RNLI open sea look 🤣

Peaceful village walk today

Wednesday 8th May
Day 8: warm, clear weather meant we could venture along the usually muddy footpath to the church, where we zig zagged through the headstones, trying to find the oldest one. Trekked amongst the daisies on the village green and onwards to home. Exactly one mile today!

Day 6 = 1 mile swim

Monday 6th May
Early on a bank holiday monday morning, up before most other people, Phoebe took on a 1mile swim. That's 64 lengths of the 25m pool. She even went a little bit further and swam 66 lengths! That's more than the rest of the family have ever swum. Well Done Phoebe 😊

Day 5

Sunday 5th May
Quick spin around the village today, sat down and on 2 wheels after yesterday's long hot walk.

Saturday Afternoon Walk - day 4

Sunday 5th May
The whole family took a walk to the local pub via the scenic route . Making the most of the warm spring weather 😎

Day 2

Thursday 2nd May
After not quite making a full mile all at once on day 1 we trekked a little bit further afield via our local farmland and did more than a mile to make up for the bit missing yesterday.
The stream flowing fast but we managed to avoid the worst of the mud surrounding it and we even saw a hedgehog just casually having an afternoon stroll in the sunshine!
What will tomorrow's walk surprise us with 🤔

Seeing as Nannie and Grandad can't count the days in May, I will pretend I can't either. Good luck Phoebe! Looking forward to hearing how you're getting on and where your walks are taking you. From Your Favourite Auntie x
