I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

Friday 31st May
What a gorgeous morning to finish up my RNLI challenge. Sunshine on the River Barrow track, lots of birdsong. I walked more than a mile a day but the challenge for me was not to miss a day - and I didn’t (despite the weather). Huge thanks to everyone who sponsored me for this excellent cause!

Walk 26

Sunday 26th May
Sam has been a great companion on my walks- though we don’t agree that pausing to cool off in the shade while on a public road is a great idea

Walk 25

Saturday 25th May
At least we have the flowers to indicate the season. The weather certainly isn’t helping today

Later than usual owing to a busy day but the Godlight was worth it!

Walk 17

Friday 17th May
I may be biased but I think this is one of the most beautiful roads in the country - conveniently half a mile long! I drive it all the time so was a treat to get out and walk it up and back today.

A walk around the lovely Cabinteely Park after lunch today, en route to Greystones.

Tuesday 14th May
Opted for a few laps of the lovely walled garden at Duckett’s Grove in Carlow today as I was passing!

Walk 13

Monday 13th May
Sam regretted joining me for today’s walk. We got soaked! Nothing to what the RNLI often have to face though, so I’m not complaining

A Burnet’s Moth provides a splash of colour today as storm clouds gather.

Walk 9

Friday 10th May

Walk 8

Wednesday 8th May
Crab apple blossom against the green fields giving a splash of colour after a day in front of the computer

Walk 7

Tuesday 7th May
Not all walks are scenic! A busy afternoon meant grabbing any opportunity to get my mile in. Today it was thanks to another puncture repair appointment!

Walk 6

Monday 6th May
Back to green and grey with a slight chill today - but at least I had nice company for my walk.

Walk 5

Sunday 5th May
Look at that bright ball in the sky! In between running the kids places and rescuing a poor cat that had been hit by a car (!) I made time for my daily walk!

Walk 4 A slow one

Saturday 4th May
Energy a bit low today and weather drizzley so I took a leaf out of this fella’s book and took my time.

Walk 3

Friday 3rd May
Walked my mile on the Medieval Mile of Kilkenny today.

Walk 2 Bluebells

Thursday 2nd May
Lovely walk in Oak Park to enjoy the bluebells and hide from the fog and cold! Roll on summer…

Walk 1

Wednesday 1st May
April showers are continuing into May but founds a nice break to get my walk in after work!

Thank you to my Sponsors
