The Event

What is Cuppa for the Crew?

add remove

Gather your friends and host a Cuppa for the Crew to help courageous RNLI volunteers continue saving lives at sea. It’s easy to take part – pop the kettle on and host a Cuppa for the Crew at your home, in the office or in a community space on a date to suit you.

When you register, a fundraising page will be automatically created, which you can share with your guests. Every single donation from your Cuppa for the Crew will help power RNLI volunteers to the rescue.

When do I need to hold my event?

add remove

It is completely up to you when you hold your Cuppa for the Crew – simply pick a date that suits you and your guests.

How does Cuppa for the Crew work?

add remove

There are many ways you can host your Cuppa for the Crew. You could gather your friends and family for tea and homemade cakes at home, encourage your colleagues to bring in biccies for a fundraising tea break, or host a fancy afternoon tea in the garden.

As well as enjoying a brew, why not put on an activity to encourage more people to join in the fun? If you're hosting outside, dig out the garden games − perhaps boules or croquet. Or, if you're indoors, host a quiz or try a guess-the-blend tea tasting − matcha, anyone?

When you register, a fundraising page will automatically be created, which you can share with your friends and family. You’ll also be able to download your free fundraising guide, which has more inspiration.

Where does Cuppa for the Crew take place?

add remove

You decide when and where you’d like to hold your Cuppa for the Crew. Perhaps you’d like to bring out the best china for afternoon tea at home, have a brew and biccies in the office, enjoy tea and cake in the garden, or meet at a local café for tea and treats. If necessary, consider a backup plan of where (and how) you’ll host your Cuppa for the Crew in case the weather – or other circumstances – prevent you from going ahead.

Is there a registration fee?

add remove

There is no registration fee to take part, but we are asking everyone who holds a Cuppa for the Crew to kindly raise funds through their fundraising page, to bring us closer to saving every one.

Fundraising

How do I collect money for my Cuppa for the Crew?

add remove

Once you sign up, your fundraising page will be automatically created, and all donations collected on your page will come directly to the RNLI. You can add your own profile picture and tell us why you’re hosting your Cuppa for the Crew. You can then share your page with friends and family so they can donate to support you and the RNLI’s volunteer lifesavers.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

add remove

All donations made to your fundraising page will be automatically transferred to the RNLI, so you don’t need to do anything. If you receive any cash donations, you can bank them yourself and transfer the amount to your online fundraising page. Every contribution makes a real, lifesaving difference.

Is there a minimum amount I should raise?

add remove

The money you raise will help our lifesavers to save every one they can, so any amount you raise is greatly appreciated by our crews.

Will I receive anything for participating in Cuppa for the Crew?

add remove

As a charity, the RNLI relies on donations to fund its lifesaving work and we have a duty to use those donations in the most responsible way possible, in the face of rising costs. We therefore will not be providing any incentive to participate in Cuppa for the Crew.

Is Gift Aid included in my fundraising total?

add remove

Yes, the amount shown on your online fundraising page includes Gift Aid.

What will the money raised be spent on?

add remove

Cuppa for the Crew is an unrestricted fundraising campaign, so any donations kindly made by supporters will go into general funds to be used where they are needed most and help us in our mission to save every one.

I have tried to donate to my fundraising page and you have tried to charge me an additional amount at the banking app stage?

add remove

When donating to your own fundraising page there is an optional additional fee to help cover maintaining the technology used to keep the platform available for donations. You can vary this % or remove it completely. This additional fee is entirely optional.
