Will you answer the lifesavers’ call for help?
From families flocking to the seaside to enjoy sunny weather, to watersport enthusiasts making the most of the surf, the coast is far busier during the summer. And with more people by the water, RNLI volunteers get even more calls for help.
No matter how or where you do your Mayday Mile, every penny or cent you raise will make a lifesaving difference to your selfless crews and the grateful people they rescue. With you by their side, the volunteers will be ready when more desperate calls for help come this summer. That makes you a lifesaver too.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the challenge work?
We are asking everyone that takes on the challenge to complete 31 miles throughout May. When you register, a fundraising page will be automatically created which you can share with your friends and family.
Do I need to run 1 mile every day?
No, you decide how you would like to tackle the challenge. Running 1 mile every day for 31 days is one option. Or you could walk it – on average, it takes just 20 minutes to walk a mile.
You could also jog, swim, cycle or skate your way through your Mayday Mile. And you can mix it up each day if you prefer. Make it fun by doing something you enjoy.
Where does the event take place?
The Mayday Mile is a virtual event, and you decide when and where you want to complete your miles. You could walk around your neighbourhood, run in a nearby park, or swim in your local pool – it’s completely up to you.
How do I pay in my fundraising?
All donations made to your fundraising page will automatically be transferred to the RNLI, so you don’t need to do anything.
If you receive any cash donations, you can bank them yourself and transfer the amount to your online fundraising page. Every contribution makes a real, lifesaving difference.
Is there an age limit to take part?
Both over 18s and under 18s can take part in the Mayday Mile Challenge. However, someone over 18 must register on behalf of someone under 18. The registering adult does not have to fundraise, but will be responsible for the creation of the child's fundraising page and account.
