Will you help prepare RNLI crews for their busiest season?

From families flocking to the beach to surfers heading for the waves, the coast is far busier during summer. And with more people by the water, RNLI volunteers get even more calls for help.

However you do your Mayday Mile, you’ll go the distance for crews who’ll be getting ready to launch to the rescue this summer. From tough kit to rigorous training, every penny or cent you raise will help give them everything they need to save lives at sea. That makes you a lifesaver too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the challenge work?

add remove

We are asking everyone that takes on the challenge to complete 31 miles throughout May. When you register, a fundraising page will be automatically created which you can share with your friends and family.

Do I need to run 1 mile every day?

add remove

No, you decide how you would like to tackle the challenge. Running 1 mile every day for 31 days is one option. Or you could stroll, ride or roll your way through your Mayday Mile – it’s completely up to you. You can mix it up each day if you like. Make it fun by doing something you enjoy.

Where does the event take place?

add remove

The Mayday Mile is a virtual event, and you decide when and where you want to complete your miles. You could stroll around your neighbourhood, run in a nearby park, or ride along the seafront – it’s completely up to you.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

add remove

All donations made to your fundraising page will automatically be transferred to the RNLI, so you don’t need to do anything.

If you receive any cash donations, you can bank them yourself and transfer the amount to your online fundraising page. Every contribution makes a real, lifesaving difference.

Is there an age limit to take part?

add remove

Both over 18s and under 18s can take part in the Mayday Mile Challenge. However, someone over 18 must register on behalf of someone under 18. The registering adult does not have to fundraise, but will be responsible for the creation of the child's fundraising page and account.

How will my fundraising make a difference?
add remove

Donations kindly collected will go into general funds to be used where they are needed most by any part of the organisation. We are not able to restrict funds to any specific station or region. Learn more about how the lifesaving funds you raise help save lives.
