I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers
I'm Eleanor and I'm 5. When I grow up I want to be a lifeboat person. And a doctor. And an astronaut. This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.
During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.
By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.
Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Day 31: Finished!
Saturday 31st May Today was my final Mayday Mile. I wanted to do it around Ashby and so we walked around town and through the park. I found a ladybird and told some nice people what I was doing and why I was raising money for the lifeboat. I'm really happy that I have walked a mile each day and supported the lifeboat. Thank you! Share

Day 28: Breedon and a dog rescue!
Wednesday 28th May Today we went to Breedon because I wanted to walk around the quarry and climb the hill to the church. It was very high! We also rescued a dog who started to follow us and had a limp. The nice man in the village shop gave me some money for the lifeboat. Thank you very much! The walk was very good and I liked looking into the quarry Share
Day 27: Wet, wet, wet!
Tuesday 27th May Today it rained. A lot! I wore my wellies for my mile and we walked through the allotments. When we were crossing the field, it started to rain a lot and we got very wet. I splashed through lots of puddles and mommy and I sang raining songs. It was fun! Share

I did my Mayday Mile through the woods, I got slightly wet and cold but it was fun seeing the wooden sculptures! Share

Day 20: More doughnuts!
Wednesday 21st May Today we walked to grandma and grandads for milkshake and doughnuts. Grandad met me and took me home so mommy and my brother could go to the library. We saw the road had a new covering of rocks on it, so I asked lots of questions about it. Later, I did a duck race in the bath. I moved the ducks around the bath and mommy had to shout for her favourite one. She won! Share
Day 19: Cycling at Hicks Lodge
Wednesday 21st May Today I rode my bike around Hick's Lodge for my Mayday midday mile. I have a red bike and my brother has a yellow one. I rode my bike all around the lake, and even climbed up the hill by myself! Afterwards.I played on the playground, it was fun! Share
Day 18: Dimminsdale and milkshake
Wednesday 21st May Today we went to see the go-karts race down the hill in Ashby and then I went to a birthday party. After the party we went a walk around Dimminsdale, which is very nice and had lots of wild garlic. On the way we went to a local dairy and got a chocolate milkshake. It was delicious! Share
Day 17: Moira Canal Festival
Wednesday 21st May Today we went to the canal festival at Moira. We parked a mile away and we walked to the festival and back along the canal. I heard lots of birds singing beautifully. I loved the festival, I played on the dodgems, bounced on the trampoline and helped a magician. We also saw the duck race, which I loved! We had to shout for our duck, and there were kayaks to push the ducks along the canal. The lady on the trampoline gave me some money for the RNLI, thank you! Share

On the way back we parked in Repton and climbed Askew Hill. At the top there is a geocache called Askews Point, so we decided to point at something! Share
Day 13: Back from school again

Share
Day 8. A mile with grandma
Saturday 10th May I went to grandma and grandad's house for dinner today. Grandma did my midday mile with me (mommy says it's Mayday Mile, but I don't believe her!). We walked to the park and back again. Then I had sausage for my dinner. Share

Friday 2nd May Today I walked my first mile round the town where I live. It was very hot! My mommy carried the school bags. My brother had put a large fossil in his that he had found at Whitby, so mommy was very tired when we got home. I also forgot my RNLI helmet, but I will wear it for my mile tomorrow. Share
