How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers running Mudeford to Swanage and back!

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea. So far 3 miles per day and should reach a total of 100 miles by 31st May. Running RNLI Mudeford to RNLI Swanage and back, finishing at RNLI Poole.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Day 21 - Southbourne

Thursday 21st May
A 4 miler along the seafront with a sprint around the pier. Enjoyed running barefoot on the sand and in the water. 20 degree evening sunshine.

Day 20 - Boscombe Pier

Thursday 21st May
3 miles in windy weather again. Poppy pup with me but the sand was blowing in her face on the way out. So, I carried her and we ran back when we turned around.

Day 19 - Bournemouth Pier

Tuesday 19th May
Extremely windy 2 miles! Gusts over 35mph!  Another exfoliation session lol.

Day 18 - Durley Chine

Monday 18th May
Sandblasted during 4 miles on a windy seafront. Perfect weather for Kite-surfing. Not running lol

Day 17 - Canford Cliffs

Monday 18th May
Such a lovely stretch to run. 3 miles and dodged showers!

Day 16 - Sandbanks

Sunday 17th May
It was a late evening but very enjoyable. 3 miles around Sandbanks which is a favourite place of mine. Very flat with amazing views..

Day 15 - Poole Quay

Friday 15th May
Whitecliff to Poole Quay and back. 3 miles with Poppy pup. She likes to chat to other dogs so it’s a bit slower when she’s with me lol

Day 14 - Studland

Thursday 14th May
On my way home! 3 miles and another beautiful day 💙

Day 13 - Swanage

Wednesday 13th May
A two mile run along the sea front up to RNLI Swanage Lifeboat Station, out to Peveril Point and back through town via the RNLI shop (against a strong cold wind!) Thanks for the pizza x

Day 12 - Studland Bay

Tuesday 12th May
A wonderful 5 mile run from the chain link ferry, the whole length of Shell Bay Beach to Studland Beach and back! What a fun time that was.

Day 11 - Wareham

Monday 11th May
A pleasant day with a steady 2 miles along the Frome in Wareham. I am never keen going inland but Wareham is a fabulous little town and had to be part of my journey! I stayed near water though 🌊💙😂

Day 10 - RNLI Poole

Sunday 10th May
That was fun. A 4 mile run taking in Baiter Park, RNLI Old Lifeboat Museum and RNLI Poole Lifeboat Station. I thought they would be training but these amazing crew had been out on a shout!

Day 9 - Sandbanks

Saturday 9th May
A very hot, busy run 4 miles from Canford Cliffs to Sandbanks and back. I have now run the full coastline from Mudeford to Sandbanks and back (I always turn and run back to where I started each day) 🌊💙

Day 8 - Canford Cliffs

Friday 8th May
I couldn’t wait to get out there today but ended up running in the heat so it was a tough 4 miles! Absolutely beautiful sea, beach and views to Canford Cliffs and Flaghead then back.

Day 7 - Branksome Chine

Thursday 7th May
A slightly easier 2.5 mile run today. All level and barely a breeze. Met my wonderful RNLI Dave manager halfway who gave me a May Day T-shirt I will treasure and wear for all my runs for the rest of the month. A huge thank you X

Day 6 - Bournemouth Pier Run

Wednesday 6th May
Four miles from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier and back (thought it was only 3 miles lol). The best run I have had for a long time. Loved it and was a perfect evening. Someone shouted ‘Keep going Forrest!’ That’s absolutely true and made my evening 🏃

Day 5 - Boscombe Pier Run

Tuesday 5th May
A three mile run taking in the fabulous Boscombe Pier! A lot of history which is told on the display boards if you ever get to go. I met some wonderful lifeguards (see my gallery). It’s RNLI’s 25th year of lifeguards this year. Your donations to my page are greatly appreciated by us all. Thank you 🌊💙x

Day 4 - Southbourne

Monday 4th May
An absolutely gorgeous morning. A level surface today on the seafront for two miles.

Day 3 - Hengitsbury Head

Sunday 3rd May
A steady 3 miles with my dog, Poppy. Warm and humid, and quite busy so had to run slower. Plus, this is the toughest terrain and hills from my entire challenge. The views are worth every second 🌊💙

Day 2 - Christchurch Harbour

Saturday 2nd May
Pacing the Wick Ferry today lol. Then a run out along the marshes. Another 3 miles. Stopped for some photos of springtime foliage. Take a look in my gallery below.

Day 1 - Mudeford 3 miles

Friday 1st May
A perfect day for running to start the May Day Mile 2026 campaign. A steady start to warm up then slight acceleration reaching 5:35/km. So, a 9 minute mile in the middle. Heading for 7 minute mile by the end of the month (in my dreams) 😅
Thank you for the donations and support. Every £1 counts, so thank you very much. Really appreciated.
