How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

From the Pager to the Pavement: My Mayday Mile

Monday 2nd Mar
Hi everyone,
Most of you know that when my pager goes off, I head straight to Sheerness Lifeboat Station. Whether it's the middle of the night or the middle of dinner, our crew is ready to launch into the Thames Estuary and Medway river to help anyone in trouble at sea.
This May, I’m taking on a different kind of challenge to support the charity that keeps us safe while we’re saving others: The RNLI Mayday Mile.
The Challenge
I’m pushing myself further this month to ensure our station has the funds it needs to stay rescue-ready:
The Daily Grind: I’ll be completing one mile every single day throughout May.
The Grand Finale: On the final weekend, I’ll be joining my fellow crew members for a 5k run in our full RNLI kit. If you’ve ever seen us training, you know that kit isn’t designed for distance running! It’s heavy, it’s hot, and it’s going to be a massive physical challenge—but it’s nothing compared to what some of our casualties face in the water.
Why Your Support Matters
The RNLI is powered by volunteers, but our kit, fuel, and training are powered by you. Every pound you donate stays right here in the heart of our lifesaving mission. It buys the boots on our feet and the fuel in our tanks.
Please consider sponsoring my miles this month. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us bring one more person home safely to their family.
Thank you for standing (and running) with us.
