I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue
Every day, around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, RNLI volunteers are kitting up to answer desperate calls for help. But they can’t launch to the rescue without support. The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home. I’m fundraising to help them stay ready to rescue.
To support this in the most appropriate way, Liz and I, as pair of enthusiastic exercise dodgers, will be trying to avoid drowning, ahem Swimming, across Lake WIndermere for the distance of 1 mile.
This is likely to be a) cold, and b) effort - neither of which we are happy about - however, it is for a good cause in helping to keep our coastlines and waterways safe!
We're not doing it alone, and have enlisted the support of a couple of slightly unhinged friends Tebbs and Steve who are doing it a) for the pleasure of exercise, and b) to ensure that we get it done!
