How far ahead of my event should I register?

We recommend registering your event as soon as you know what you would like to do. This will enable you to access the support materials and start to raise funds on your unique fundraising page. We require a minimum of 48hrs (excluding bank holidays and weekends) to approve registrations, so please build this into your plans.

What happens after I register for my event?

A member of our team will review your activity. We may ask you some additional questions or we may approve it without requiring any additional information. Either way, you will hear from us within 48 hrs of submitting your DIY fundraising event registration form. Please allow a little extra time for weekends and bank holidays. When your page is approved, you’ll receive an email letting you know it’s ready to start sharing and exploring.

What will the money raised be spent on?

Donations kindly collected through DIY fundraising by supporters will go into general funds to be used where they are needed most by any part of the organisation. We are not able to restrict funds to any specific station or region. To learn more about where fundraising money is used by our organisation please visit How The RNLI Uses Your Money To Save Lives.

Can I register for more than one fundraising event?

Yes, you can register as many fundraising activities as you wish. When you register for the first time you will have an account created for you, which can be used for the next time you wish to register a new event.

Are there any rules I must follow when fundraising in aid of for the RNLI?

When you register your fundraising activity with us we ask that you review and accept our Fundraising In Aid of T&Cs before you proceed. In order to keep your fundraising safe and legal we have produced some guidelines which can be found at RNLI.org/SafeAndLegalFundraising. Is there an age limit to register fundraising?

You need to be over 18 to register your fundraising and create a fundraising page. Under 18s are however very welcome to take part in appropriate fundraising activity (with the correct permissions from a parent/guardian).

Is there a minimum amount I should raise?

The money you raise will help our lifesavers to save every one they can, we welcome all fundraising donations you may generate from your activity, however big or small.

Is Gift Aid included in my fundraising total?

The main total displayed on your fundraising page excludes Gift Aid, however you can see how much additional fundraising income is coming from Gift Aid underneath your total.

Is there a registration fee?

There is no fee to register your activity and set up your fundraising page, however we are asking everyone that does so to raise funds for the RNLI to bring us closer to saving every one we can.

What fundraising materials will I receive?

When you register your activity with us you will have access to your own fundraising page with a dashboard where you can access print at home materials like bunting, posters, donation pot labels and a fundraising guide to help you get the most out of your fundraising activity.

Will I receive a T-shirt?

We’ve made the decision not to currently provide free merchandise to people completing their own fundraising activity. If you would like to purchase any branded merchandise to support your fundraising activity, please visit our online shop - RNLI Shop | Lifesaving Gifts

What media support will I receive from the RNLI?

Our media teams work is always focussed on saving lives and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide you with any media coverage for your activity.  You should not be reliant on this support for your challenge.

Will I receive a thank you?

Within your fundraising dashboard, in the materials section you will find a print at home certificate which we welcome you to personalise with the name of your activity (or name of the fundraiser) and the amount you raised.

How do I collect money for my event?

Once you sign up, your fundraising page will be automatically created, and all donations collected on your page will come directly to the RNLI. You can add your own profile picture and tell us why you’re fundraising for us. You can then share your page with friends and family so they can donate to support you and the RNLI’s volunteer lifesavers. 

How do I pay in my fundraising?

If you receive any cash donations, you can bank them yourself and transfer the amount to your online fundraising page. Every contribution makes a real, lifesaving difference.

Can I use the RNLI logo?

Within your materials section of your fundraising dashboard ‘Fundraising In Aid of RNLI’ logo. The RNLI “Fundraising in Aid of” logo can only be used when fundraising for the RNLI and you must not use the RNLI name or logo on any other materials or for any commercial purposes.

If I’m fundraising as part of a team, do you need my details or the team details?

If you are fundraising as a team, we only require one person to register the activity. Within your event description you can list the participants of the fundraising and give details about what you’re doing and why. The fundraising page which will be generated once your activity is approved (within 48hrs) can be shared by anyone.

Can I fundraise if I live outside of the UK and Ireland?

Absolutely, we welcome anyone who wants to fundraise on our behalf, however please note that you will only be able to fundraise in pounds or euros.

How long will my fundraising page remain open after my event?

Your fundraising page will remain open (pending any platform changes) unless you choose to close it. You can do this by clicking into the ‘Edit my page’ tab on your personal dashboard and selecting ‘Archive my page’.

How do I change the date or time of my Fundraising activity?

You can change the time or date of your event by clicking into the ‘Edit my page’ tab on your personal dashboard.

Offline Sponsorship

If you are fundraising through the page created at registration, please email fundraising@rnli.org.uk or 0300 300 9908 (UK) or 01 511 9834 (Ireland) or +441202 663234 (any other country) with the amount of funds that you’ve raised offline.
