MayDay Six - 06/05/2026
Monday 11th May
Leg Day at the gym tonight, so this Mayday Mile definitely fell into the “steady persistence” category rather than “athletic excellence”. Lols!
One thing I’m noticing this year is how quickly the mile just becomes part of the rhythm of the day. No debate, no overthinking it, just get out, get moving, and quietly add another mile to the total.
Tonight’s walk covered 1.07 miles in cool evening conditions after training, with very tired legs but a surprisingly decent pace all things considered.
Huge respect to everyone taking part, donating, or supporting RNLI crews and lifeguards this May.
1.07 miles walked today. Miles walked so far, 7.11.

MayDay Five - 05/05/2026
Sunday 10th May
Tuesday was Chest Day at the gym, so this one definitely felt a bit more like a quiet recovery mile than a speedrun! Lols! Still, that’s consistency over intensity.
One thing I’ve learned over the last year is that movement doesn’t always need to be dramatic to matter. Sometimes it’s just about getting outside, clearing your head, and maintaining the routine.
Tonight’s walk covered 1.07 miles in relativly moderate evening air after training, with a slower pace and tired legs, but another mile quietly added to the challenge.
Huge respect to everyone else taking part, donating, or supporting RNLI crews and lifeguards this May.
1.07 miles walked today. Miles walked so far, 6.04.

MayDay Four - 04/05/2026
Sunday 10th May
Another mile ticked off for the RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge.
Really pleased with how sustainable this is feeling so far. Nothing extreme, nothing dramatic, just quietly getting the miles done day by day and building consistency.
One of the nicest parts of doing this again this year has been seeing the routes and data properly mapped out.
Tonight’s walk covered 1.26 miles, with a steady pace.
1.26 miles walked today. Miles walked so far, 4.97.

Really enjoying seeing the data properly this year too. It makes the whole thing feel much more tangible and real.
Cooler conditions tonight as well, which made for a genuinely pleasant walk.
1.16 miles walked today. Miles walked so far, 3.71.

Mayday Two - 02/05.2026
Sunday 10th May
Another evening mile in the bag. Taking this nice and steady, focusing on consistency rather than trying to smash myself into the ground in week one! Lols!
Really enjoying seeing the data properly this year too. It makes the whole thing feel much more tangible and real than last year’s close-enough Fitbit app-and-notepad approach!
1.18 miles walked today. Miles walked so far, 2.55.

MayDay One - 01/05/2026
Sunday 10th May
This is my second year taking part in the challenge. Last year started as a commitment to move more after joining my gym in February of 2025. Somewhere along the way, that extra daily mile become part of life.
This year’s focus has been on nutrition and building more sustainable habits, with sleep next on the list. The goal isn’t perfection, just continuing to move forward, one steady step at a time.
Tonight’s walk covered 1.37 miles around my local area, with a steady pace and a cool evening to clear my head at the end of the day.
Huge respect to everyone else taking part, donating, or supporting RNLI crews and lifeguards this May.
1.37 miles walked today.
