I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m taking on a mile‑a‑day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

Can I run a mile? Absolutely. But the real challenge will be carving out the time to get out and do it every single day while juggling work and family life — especially with two small boys keeping me on my toes!

Thankfully, I’ve never needed the RNLI myself, but I’ve always been in awe of the brave volunteers who head out into the surf and sea to rescue others.

During the summer months, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do the calls for help from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue and ensure they’re ready for their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support these courageous crews?

Mayday Mile: Past halfway and Still Alive

Saturday 16th May
Day 16 of the Mayday Mile and I’ve officially past the halfway point. With thirty miles already under my belt, and no need for sea rescue just yet.
Overall, it’s been a really positive experience. I’m moving more, raising money for the RNLI (which helps when you’re questioning your life choices mid‑run), and the support I’ve had has been brilliant. Even better, the weather has behaved itself so far — a rare win.
That said, doing a mile every day isn’t always glamorous. Finding the time can be tricky, and some days like today it’s happened at the very end of a long day when the sofa was strongly objecting. Getting out anyway feels like a small victory every time.
My body is also starting to have opinions. Sixteen days in, I’m learning that warm‑downs are no longer optional “nice to haves”, and my foam roller is finding knots aplenty.
Still, I’m halfway through, feeling proud, and ready to tackle the second half — one slightly creaky mile at a time.

Feeling Thankful and Fired Up for the Mayday Mile

Sunday 5th Apr

It’s only been a few days since I first shared my Mayday Mile challenge, and I’m honestly blown away by the support so far. Thanks to everyone who’s donated, shared the page, or sent a message of encouragement — you’ve helped push me to well over halfway to my fundraising goal already. I didn’t expect such a quick response, and it means a lot.

Now that the momentum is building, I’m deep in planning mode. May is going to be a busy month, and I’m already figuring out how to fit a mile into every single day. Some days will be easy, others will definitely test me, but that’s part of the challenge and part of the fun. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

If you’d still like to support the RNLI and help me reach (or even smash) my target, you can donate here: https://fundraise.rnli.org/fundraisers/charliehall/mayday-mile

Thank you again — every bit of support genuinely keeps me going. Here’s to a full month of miles and making a difference.
