I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea. I will vary walking and swimming my daily miles.

Dave and I have supported the Lifeboats for many years and really appreciate this wonderful charity and their courageous volunteers. Since 2018 Alan has worked in Weymouth and Portland teaching watersports, and we visit endlessly! Boat trips and sea swims all made safer in the knowledge that crews are ready to help us all if needed.

This summer you may have family, children or grandchildren out on kayaks and swimming, perhaps you will be out on a sea-fishing trip? You know help will be at hand, if needed, can you also help those who launch to help you?

Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to come to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

My RNLI Mayday miles so far

Saturday 10th May
10 days in and 52.2 miles walked. Recording on Strava which doesn’t link to site so I upload, but it only records the whole miles, so the total may be a little less. Lovely BH weekend on annual Scout hike but harder to fit around work and meals. This is a great idea and good time of year to do it!

Getting ready for the challenge

Wednesday 30th Apr
I’ve been doing walks over March and April, just setting out from the front door, recording on Strava and working on pace. I have recorded 20 walks totalling 91.85 miles in just over 21 hours.
Also got back to swimming! Approx 65 x 25m lengths to a mile and I am up to 85 in an hour so far.
The best part of the challenge physically is that it needs to be something EVERY DAY, so I can do just the daily mile or more depending on what else is going on.
