RNLI Tower Run 2026

RNLI Tower Run 2026

The RNLI Tower Run is London’s biggest stair climb challenge, with runners tackling over 1,400 steps whilst raising money to support the RNLI's lifesaving work in London and along the UK coastline.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Powered by kind donations, our search and rescue service has been saving lives around the UK for over 200 years.

Every pound and penny raised from the RNLI Tower Run will go towards equipping our volunteer lifeboat crews with the essential training, kit, boats and materials required to continue our lifesaving mission for years to come.

My Updates

10 days to go!

Wednesday 14th Oct
Last "fast" training session today, just got a couple of tapering off sessions to go on Saturday and Tuesday, and then raceday 🙈 Target remains <20 minutes. Good luck me! 🥳🥳🥳

September!

Wednesday 14th Oct

Onwards and (slowly) upwards.

Monday 21st Sep
Surprisingly I've kept going!

And realised that I can actually complete the distance, albeit very slowly.

First time I managed it was in a smidge over 38 minutes. I've gotten that down to about 25 minutes, but that's without the complication of actually turning ~120 corners.

So, my target for the next 4 weeks.  Get myself to a state where I can actually do the real thing within 20 minutes.

How hard can it be?  #deathorglory

Then time to wave goodbye to the gym forever! 🥳🥳🥳

And kept going!

Monday 21st Sep
I hate it 😂  Very quickly realised how unfit I've become since I stopped playing football and walking to and from train stations daily.

I've actually been 'gymming'

Monday 21st Sep
I'm shocked myself... after finding a local gym with some of those infinite staircase "ClimbMill" things.  I actually joined.  And went! 🤯

Bad life choices

Monday 21st Sep
Well back in June I seem to have signed up to this!  Sounded fun.  Then I realised I might actually die, either from exhaustion or rolling all the way back down, who knows.  So I thought I'd better get off the sofa and join a gym.  And unlike 20 years ago, actually go this time 🙈

Oh, and 3 months later I realised they gave me a fundraising and blog page... time to play catchup!
