Hiking the Cornish South West Coast Path

By Emily Pharo

I’m fundraising for the RNLI to help power brave lifesavers to the rescue

Atleast 15 people have died lately after getting into trouble in the water during the UK heatwave. Too many people are still drowning, and this number has increased due to the hotter summer weather we are having.

Every day, around the coasts of the UK and Ireland, RNLI volunteers are kitting up to answer desperate calls for help. But they can’t launch to the rescue without support. The RNLI relies on donations to fund the kit and training volunteers need to save lives at sea and return safely home. I’m fundraising to help them stay ready to rescue.

More than ever we need the RNLI’s help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe.

RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They’re the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators working tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place.

Next month I am leaving the British Armed Forces having served in the Royal Navy, so I have a genuine understanding of safety at sea. I am using my last month of annual leave to hike the South West Coast Path, passing every beach in Cornwall (my home) to raise money for the amazing charity which keeps us safe on our coastlines. Your donations will help to support the people putting their own lives at risk to keep our coasts safe 24/7, 365 days a year.

One path, one purpose, saving lives!

Thank you.
