An RNLI fundraiser perfect for M.E.

Well, I never thought I'd be partaking in a physical fundraiser, given my disability but I'm so excited that there is one I know I can achieve. Not only that, one for a charity I am very passionate about!!

So throughout May I will be walking a mile a day to raise funds for the RNLI, a charity that is funded solely on donations.

You probably think a mile a day isn't a challenge, especially for those of you who regularly run and train for marathons, but for me, especially after COVID, it is a challenge. My M.E. means I have to pace myself every day, if I overdo it one day then I'll certainly pay for it in the following days. A mile a day is just enough for me.

You're probably asking why I am not doing this for an M.E. charity? Well I just love the RNLI and what they do, regular people giving up their own time to volunteer, and risk their own lives to save others.

After visiting many a lifeboat station they also are some of the most friendliest people, have such a great community and always welcome James and I (plus Odin) to their station and shops.

So, please if you can, I ask for your support in sponsorship, all the money raised goes direct to the RNLI to keep them doing the amazing work they do.

Thank you,

Emily.

The last mile

Saturday 31st May
I got to finish my Mayday Mile Fundraiser in Cornwall, by the sea. So happy I did this and thank you to everyone who sponsored me.xx

32 miles in

Tuesday 20th May
I'm at 32 miles, more than expected at this stage and I'm only counting the miles I actually record, not the day to day walking about.
Since the fun work day in London on Friday I've been paying for it the past few days so I'm not enjoying this at the moment, I'm having to watch myself really closely but I'm going to get to the end. Only 10 days left if you'd like to sponsor me.

Walking home from work.

Wednesday 14th May
Today I've done a thing I've not done in years and walked the 2 miles home from work!
Actually quite enjoyable in the sun, if a bit hot!!!

Day 3 and 4

Sunday 4th May
Day 3 was a Saturday and after a really busy week at work I'm normally needing to rest. However I'm pleased I made it up and out to achieve my walk.
Then day 4 comes and Odin is confused that he gets an extra walk with me, after a long one with James in the morning.

My first Mayday Mile....

Thursday 1st May
On the hottest day of the year so far I set off for my first mile of the month, done during my lunch break.
Whilst walking in the heat, along the Leas in Folkestone, I was looking out to sea thinking about all the RNLI volunteers who have been called out today. I wondered how they were coping in their PPE in the heat  But then having met quite a few of the crew of different stations, they probably don't even think about it until they've saved the life or lives they've been called out to rescue.
I'm now excited for the next 30 days fundraising for the volunteers risking their lives for others.
