I’m taking on the Mayday Mile-a-Day challenge to support RNLI volunteers

UPDATE: I’ve now updated my daily target to two miles a day, just to push myself a bit more.

Water never used to be a problem for me, but after an 18 hour sailing yacht journey in a force 8 storm, I had nightmares for a month, and a fear of being anywhere near water developed. Having just returned from a week long river cruise on the Mosel in Germany, I am well on the way to liking it again.

I spent a lot of my childhood holidays at my Nans in Mousehole, Cornwall, where we would hear and see the flares going up, and then see the lifeboat going out, so it seemed only right to sign up. I’m also doing this challenge in memory of my father, as he knew several of the crew on the ill-fated Solomon Browne, which was called out from Mousehole and never returned.

I would greatly appreciate all the support I can get to complete this challenge and to raise funds for the RNLI.

Thank you.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous water sports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?
