9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Day 7 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Thursday 7th May
Went to the gym today, did my mile on the treadmill before a sauna. Time was short but at least I got it in.

Day 6 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Wednesday 6th May
Better today, felt quick and easy. Hoping to up either my speed or distance next week!

Day 5 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Wednesday 6th May
Down and no energy today, at least the miles done but I don’t like the decline in distance over the past few days!

Day 4 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Monday 4th May
Today felt like a good burn, little more incline, tried to run a bit faster while on my low and high blocks. I’m still finding this custom low and high intervals workout the best for me currently. First bit of calf cramp which was lovely but there’s no gain without pain 🏃

Day 3 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Monday 4th May
Day 3 was quick, although I only did just over a mile as I havnt given myself enough time with activities I’ve got on today. It was cold and wet which was nice, however the cold has given me ear ache. I’m hoping it gets easier for day 4

Day 2 : 1 Mile a Day for May

Saturday 2nd May
Day 2 was a little harder and shorter, probably didn’t help I didn’t get much rest/sleep lasntight. Never the less day two is complete

May Day Mile 1 Complete!

Friday 1st May
First run was fun, I’ve created a custom interval for high and low to help myself have confidence & controlled pace. This helps me with my breathing and my chest. I’m happy for day 1 I want to confidently be able to run a 5k by the end of May, and complete my MayDay Challenge!

Unsung Heroes of Our Coastline

Friday 17th Apr

I’m taking part in the RNLI Mayday Mile this year.

I spend a lot of time on our coasts up and down the country, and it’s easy to take for granted that the RNLI are always there, ready to help. Most of the time, their work goes completely unnoticed.

Last year, I had an incident where I needed their assistance, and it really opened my eyes to just how vital they are. From that moment, I knew how important it was to support what they do.

I’m genuinely grateful for the help I received, and this is my way of giving something back.

Running a mile a day throughout May is a small challenge compared to what they do, but it’s something I’m proud to take on in support of such an incredible service.
