How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

walk from the cp at Strete, through to Slapton Sands and on to Tor Point. We had refreshments at their friendly pub, before walking back. A very historical walk taking in the memorial to the hundreds of American men who lost their lives on a training mission and the devastation caused to the main road when the storm hit.

Tuesday 19th May
A lovely but very tiring and windy walk along the beach at Strete, but enjoyable all the same. After very heavy rain for 2 nights and again this morning, it finally dried up enough to do my challenge walk. The beach seems to swallow your feet as you walk, as they sink into the small shingle. 14c. 1.7 ml

Friday 1st May
A lovely sunny walk along the Grand Western Canal from Halberton with my dog poppy. We met several people along the way and chatted about the RNLI and the importance of them, especially around our coastlines in Devon and Cornwall. We walked 3.1 miles in total. There are plenty of seats to rest on and take in the view.

A very nice man called Fred I met while walking the Grand Western Canal on my first mile of this challenge

Start of 1st Walk on 1st May

Saturday 4th Apr
I began my first walk along the Grand Western Canal, starting at Halberton, Devon and in total walked 3.1 miles, I met several people along the way and discussed this important voluntary organization with them. One man called Fred, was happy to have his photo taken . The money raised will, help to buy vital equipment, needed by these brave women and men, who often risk their own lives to save the lives of those at risk on our seas and shore lines
