Taking on the Reindeer Run Challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

Thursday 12th Dec
Today we set out to reach our target disatnce of 24 miles and achieved it. we did two laps of the Loch of Houll and added on some extras to complete the distance. It was a day with mixed weather, not too much wind but what there was was quite cool.Thank you everyone who has sponsored us, your generocity is amazing!

Wednesday 11th Dec
Another lap of the Loch of Houll today. Temperature around 9C but misty and as we came round the west side of the loch it was a bit damp, or as they say here drooshy!

Day 10 update

Tuesday 10th Dec
No chance to get a walk in yesterday so done a longer one today. Down around all the piers at the harbour and back round the Symbister Loop.

Day 8 update

Sunday 8th Dec
Another lap of the Loch of Houll today. A cold northerly wind but only a few spots of rain.

Day 7 update

Saturday 7th Dec
Back to the Loch of Houll this morning, we managed a lap as the model yacht sailors were getting ready.

Day 6 update

Saturday 7th Dec
We walked down to the pier where the pelagic boats moor the back round the Symbister Loop. Got home and found I hadn't press start on my Strava app!!!!
In the afternoon we did a double lap of the Loch of Houll and then in the evening  short lap of the Hillhead. In total a bit over 7 miles. I think I overdid it as I got cramp in the evening.

Oh dear, I was teaching today so only managed to log a little!

Day 4 update

Wednesday 4th Dec
At home today and weather fair so back to the Loch of Houll. Two laps done!

Day 2 update

Wednesday 4th Dec
Called on to supply teach in Lerwick, an early start and home after dark. However I did log activity through Strava!

Day 1 ....

Sunday 1st Dec
Out for our first mile, round the Loch of Houll. Windy and then rain as we neared the far end.
