In Memory of John Angier (26th April 1947 - 9th April 2024)

This May, I’m completing a RNLI Mayday challenge in memory of my Grandad, John Angier, who sadly passed away on the 9th April 2024.

My Grandad was a passionate supporter of all the work the RNLI and the volunteers undertake to keep everyone safe in the waters surrounding the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I will be cycling 31 miles (with my Dad) in memory of all the great times we had with my Grandad, including the many lifeboat stations we visited together in our share passion for the RNLI.

I would most grateful for any sponsorship or donations, however small, for this charity that was so close to my Grandad's heart.

One final ride

Friday 31st May
For the last day in May one final ride, this time  22 miles of gravel riding around the New Forest.

So over May I’ve now ridden over 100 miles for the RNLI!

Challenge Ride In Memory of Grandad

Tuesday 28th May
Not even the weather could stop me! Although a day later than planned, as cycling and thunderstorms don't go together, I completed my challenge.

I cycled from Cromer lifeboat station to Sheringham and then finally finishing some 33 miles later at Wells-next-the-Sea to the warmest of welcomes from the RNLI volunteers.

Someone had told me that Norfolk is flat, I would disagree with them, having cycled up 1,400ft of hills including a horribly long one leaving Sheringham. However that wasn't going to stop me, although I did need a few extra Haribo!

Once again a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me on my challenge and the words of encouragement, I know my grandad would be so thankful of your generosity.

I've done it and more!

Sunday 12th May
So today was our local Cancer Support Charities annual cycling sportive.... and today was my first official sportive ride. The conditions were beautiful and with the cycle to and from the event I didn't achieve the target of 31 miles, I exceeded by actually going 44 miles! (this did cost Dad, 1 ice cream, 1 rocky rock, a can of lemonade and a puncture repair)

I'm still planning to ride 31 miles between two lifeboat stations later in the month.

Trial Ride

Saturday 11th May
Went out for a 10 mile ride today, to check the bicycle is ready for trying for 30 miles tomorrow at our local sportive.

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, I never thought I would raise over £1,000!

Thanks You

Your Grandad was a true friend and a very special person. He will always be remembered as someone who cared much for his family & friends. His work ethic and concern for all he knew was inspirational. Your desire Joshua to complete this bike ride in memory of him and raise money for the RNLI would make him extremely proud of you.
