How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Subject: Join Me in Supporting Blackpool’s Lifeboat Heroes This RNLI Mayday!

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Community Members,

I’ve had the privilege of working side-by-side with the RNLI Blackpool lifeboat crew on countless occasions. I’ve seen firsthand the courage, dedication, and selflessness they bring to every single call-out—day or night, in calm seas or stormy waters. They put their own lives on the line daily to save others, and my respect for them runs deeper than words can say.

This May 1st to 31st, we’re marking RNLI Mayday, a time to come together to support these incredible lifesavers. To honor my commitment to the RNLI and do my part in raising vital funds, I’m taking on a personal challenge: every day throughout May, I’ll be running, jogging, or walking along Blackpool’s beautiful seafront. It’s my way of staying fit while showing my loyalty to the team that keeps our waters safe. I’m proud to take on this challenge as a volunteer member of HM Coastguard—a group I’m honored to be part of, and which shares my dedication to keeping our coastal communities safe.

Every penny raised will go directly to the RNLI Blackpool crew to support their life-saving work—from maintaining their lifeboats and equipment to providing training and safety gear that ensures they can keep responding when every second counts. Your support will help them continue their mission of saving lives at sea, now and in the future.

No donation is too small, and every contribution makes a real difference. Whether you can give £5, £10, or more, your support will mean the world to the crew and the people they rescue.

If you’d like to join me in supporting this amazing cause, you can make a donation [insert donation link here, e.g., via JustGiving or RNLI’s official page]. And if you’re local, feel free to spot me along the seafront—I’d love to wave hello and share a word about the work we do together.

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support. Together, we can help Blackpool’s lifeboat crew keep doing what they do best: saving lives.

With deepest gratitude,

Jos Wright
