I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers
This month I'll be going on my favourite annual holiday of the year - camping in Cornwall!
Every year, I watch the lifeguards do their job on a beach that experiences rips, high waves and fast incoming tides. It's one that is filled with surfers, swimmers, bodyboarders, kayakers and a mix of families, couples, groups, so it's always incredibly reassuring to know they are there.
This year I have decided to do the Mayday Mile challenge to raise some money for the RNLI.
It requires participants to complete a mile-a-day every day - but I'm upping the ante (as to be honest, a mile a day for someone who runs and has a dog probably isn't quite enough...)
So here's my personal challenge:
- RUN a mile-a-day at least;
- get it done before 7am - every single day;
- zero alcohol 1-25 May (IFKYK);
- no sugar other than that naturally occurring in fruit, etc
- daily 555s (5 lots of 10 x sit-ups / 10 x squats / 10 x press-ups).
I'm doing myself a checklist and will post up regular updates.
This year the RNLI celebrated 200 years of saving lives at sea. Volunteers risk their own lives to save others and keep us safe.
I figure the least I can do is try to raise some money before I head to the beach again this year!
During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.
By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.
Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?
