I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers
This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.
During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.
By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.
Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

All done!
Wednesday 29th May Firstly, a missive thank you to all who sponsored me in this challenge to offer support to the RNLI. With your help I’ve raised £322’and I’m so grateful. This isn’t really a cause that naturally stirs people into action, especially if you don’t use the ocean much, but we have all heard how the crews and support teams are available,’as volunteers, at any time, any day of the year. I think that’s amazing, especially that as an island nation, surrounded by ocean, we don't have a rescue service other than this. The walking wasn’t hugely strenuous but it made me think about why I was doing it and hopefully it raised a little bit of awareness too. Boats and being on the water is a big part of our family story and my father knew the Cromer crews well and their responses to a call left a big impression on me as a small child. Thank you again, you’ve all been really kind. X ShareSave our Souls
Monday 15th Apr My favourite place to be is by the sea. Calming and gentle and also mighty and ferocious, its ability to change can’t be ignored. My family have supported the RNLI for decades. As a little girl I saw my first lifeboat in action, thundering down the slipway in Cromer and learned about the brave crews, all volunteers, who drop what they are doing when a call goes out that there is someone in distress at sea. I think they are all amazing and Jon and I give a monthly donation to support them in their work. I'd like to do a bit more and so this little challenge is all about raising awareness and gathering together some more support for this well deserved charity. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
