I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers
This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.
During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.
By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.
Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Why I'm walking (strolling, stumbling) a Mile a Day in May
Friday 24th AprHey friends, family, and people I've guilt-tripped into reading this!
My name's Luigi, and this May I'm taking on the RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge — that means completing a mile every single day for 31 days straight. Yes, every day. Even the rainy ones. Even the "I really don't feel like it" ones. Especially those ones, actually.
What's the Mayday Mile?
It's simple: run, walk, stroll, roll, or dramatically power-walk a mile a day throughout May to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) — the incredible charity that saves lives at sea. Every penny goes towards training crews, maintaining lifeboats, and making sure our brave volunteers are ready for their busiest season: summer.
Why Am I Doing This?
Because the RNLI crews don't get to say "Ah, it's lashing rain, I'll stay on the couch." When someone's in trouble at sea, they go. The least I can do is drag myself around Stepaside for a mile a day. If they can brave the Atlantic, I can brave the Dublin drizzle. Probably.
Will It Be Hard?
Let's be honest — one mile isn't exactly an ultramarathon. But doing it every single day for a month? That takes commitment. And if you know me, you know my commitment to the couch is usually far stronger. So this is growth, people. Personal growth. You should sponsor that.
How You Can Help
Head over to my fundraising page and throw a few quid my way. Whether it's €5 or €50, every donation helps RNLI crews prepare for another busy summer of saving lives. Plus, if I raise enough, I get a wristband and a medal — and honestly, I'm very motivated by shiny things. 🏅
So please donate, share this page, and cheer me on. Or heckle me. Whatever keeps me moving.
Let's go the distance — one mile at a time! 🏃♂️🌊
