I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

2 Weeks In

Tuesday 14th May
2 weeks in and I’ve run 17 miles. Happy to be ahead of schedule of hitting the target of a mile a day. Very keen to keep the mile count ahead of the day if the month, to keep my momentum up.

My hips are holding together, I’m trying to manage to discomfort by running longer distances in the week now to have a day or two off over the weekend so I can recover.

Run my furthest distance today. 3 miles which I’m really happy about.

First Mile Run!

Wednesday 1st May
First of 31 miles run today!! After not running for the best part of 8 years, this is going to be hard work but I’m up for the challenge. Several months ago I was told I have osteoarthritis in both hip joints, so I’ve been trying to loose weight and get fit. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far, I’m massively grateful!!

I’ve Signed Up To Do My Bit

Monday 15th Apr
I’ve decided to raise money for the RNLI by doing the Mayday Mile; one mile everyday through May.

The UK has over 11,000 miles of coastline, beaches and seaside and this is protected by the RNLI who make it a safe for us to enjoy year round.

As a family we holiday in Newquay, Cornwall every year and witness what a phenomenal job the RNLI do to keep us all safe. As many of you who also holiday in coastal locations in the UK or enjoy spending time in the sea will know they need as much help as possible to keep doing the wonderful things that they do.

Also this year I have finally found the motivation to loose weight and get fit. My target is to loose four and a half stone. I felt this is a great way of exercising as well as raising money for an amazing cause!

This is a personal challenge which will push me to loose more weight and get fitter, but also raise funds for the RNLI and the absolute champs who volunteer for them, so we can all continue to enjoy days at the beach and swims in the sea, whatever the purpose or reason!

Thank you to my Sponsors
