I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea. I'm on holiday for two weeks, so will be swimming a mile a day in the pool on holiday for those two weeks. Please donate!

As a family, we've a long maritime history, with my Taid (grandfather) and his brothers, and father, and grandfather etc all being Trinity House Pilots.

The RNLI we're also involved when one of dad's long term employees sadly lost his life in a kayaking accident (https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/david-husband-sister-pays-tribute-2994110)

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

“I’ll swim a mile every day on Holiday”

Friday 17th May
So, as the title suggests, I said I’d swim a mile a day in the pool on holiday, this as it turns out is a bigger chunk to chew than I thought! I managed 32 lengths the other day, 1/3 of a mile and that was bloody hard, I’m not looking at this as a failure though, it’s made me realise two things -

1. It’s a shame that I’ve lost the level of fitness I’d gained when we’d (me & Bethan) lost weight by 2020 - only to put some of it back on in the proceeding years - this will be rectified!

2. I was swimming in a pool, in the sunshine, makes you realise just how much more peril people are in cold waters, with clothes on etc, and no “edge of the pool” within easy reach.

I mean, I walked 175 miles in May, but that's because I'm possibly deranged. Nice work, baby brother
