Taking on the Reindeer Run Challenge for RNLI lifesavers
RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.
Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.
Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.
We will always store your personal details securely, and they will only be used by the RNLI, RNLI Shop and RNLI College. What have I done?
Wednesday 27th Nov With 2 days to go, and having spent the past week and a bit coughing up a lung and frankly trying not to wet myself every time I sneezed or coughed (TMI?), I’m starting to wonder why I put my hand up for this. The reasons are simple though. (1) I’m a fundamentally lazy tart and won’t run until I absolutely have to but then weirdly enjoy it; (2) it’s only a mile a day (or 1.6kms for us colonials); and (3) what’s 1 mile a day, some minor discomfort and doing your best cherry tomato impression when the lifeboat crews face true tests of determination and courage every time a shout goes out? So, I’ve told myself to ‘suck it up, crème puff’ and get to it. Updates anon but in the meantime I shall dedicate myself to carbo-loading and hunting out my sports bra. Share

Monday 18th Nov If anything was going to make me actually move my lardy posterior, it was this. 1-24 December ‘24, Moss and I will be (not exactly) pounding the pavements for the RNLI. I may live in NZ now but it’s an organisation that I love and will always support. I appreciate things are tough economically at the moment, and am doing this purely for me to say thank you to the crews for their unwavering bravery.
