I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Day 11

Sunday 11th May
Run 11/31 ✅

A change of location today, I did today's 3 miles indoors.

But we took wee Finn a walk down to the lifeboat to keep the trend going.

So we clocked in 4.5 miles in total today.

Day 10

Saturday 10th May
Run 10/31 ✅

Another run ticked off.
Another 3 miles in the bag.
The weather in Orkney has been lovely the last few days which have made the last few runs so enjoyable... And sweaty... And a wee bit wheezy.

Had you told me at the start of this year that I would be running almost 5k everyday and outdoors too, I would have cackled! But here we are and long may it continue

Day 9

Friday 9th May
Run 9/31 ✅

3 miles in 31 minutes in 16 degrees heat.
I won't say this running malarkey is getting any easier, but the endorphins are sure doing good work.

Day 8

Thursday 8th May
Run 8/31 ✅

Tried my best to up my game today. I aimed to run 3 miles this morning, but good lord Stromness has steep hills or water in every direction, so I only managed 2.5 miles.

I'll plan out a route and hopefully I manage to get a full 3 miles in over the next few days.

Maybe I will manage to run my first ever outdoor 5k next week... Pray for me and my poor shins 😂

Day 7

Wednesday 7th May
Run 7/31 ✅

Week 1 is officially complete!

Day 6

Wednesday 7th May
6/31 ✅

A day late update for day six, but another one in the bag. Later today, I will complete my day 7 run and that will be one full week completed.

I've got to up my game tomorrow to properly earn all these generous donations. I'm so very grateful to everyone who has donated so far.

Day 4 & 5

Monday 5th May
Run 4 & 5/31 ✅

Yesterday was so busy that I forgot to post my update... But trust me! I definitely ran. I clocked in a sea swim, my first ever sailing lesson and of course my 2k run.

The weather was so nice today, made this evening's run a joy, a sweaty wheezy joy 😂

Two more runs and week one is in the bag

Day 3

Saturday 3rd May
Run 3/31 ✅

Todays run was a teeny bit rubbish
It was windy (which definitely slowed me down)  and rainy (which I thought would keep me cool... It didn't) but we persevered in the name of fundraising.

Only 28 more to go.

Day 2

Friday 2nd May
Run 2/31 ✅

One more lap to the Stromness lifeboat and back completed. If you're interested, it takes two plays of Defying Gravity from the Wicked movie 😂

Day 1

Thursday 1st May
Run 1/31 ✅

Today I completed my first of thirty one runs.
It wasn't very far, nor was it very fast.... it was certainly not very pretty, but it's all for a good cause.
