I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

The RNLI has a special place in my heart. If you know me you’ll know that I can, and often do, talk about the amazing work they do all day long. I’ve volunteered with the Queensferry lifeboat station for almost two years now so I’ve seen first hand the amount of hard work and dedication that goes in to being a lifeboat volunteer. They are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet and they are ready to stop what they’re doing to go to someone’s rescue whatever time of day or night, 365 days a year.

All lifeboat crews are volunteers who risk their lives to save others. They are not paid to do so like other emergency services despite helping on average 45 people a day.

The RNLI turned 200 years old this year and in that time they have saved over 146,000+ lives!

To mark this anniversary, I’m going to run at least a mile every day in May to try raise some vital funds that they need to continue being able to save lives at sea. It costs roughly £515,000 a day to keep the lifeboats on the water and the lifeguards on the beaches, so please consider donating whatever you can so they can continue rescuing people when they need it most, every little helps!

To see the fantastic work they do, you can watch all episode of ‘Saving Lives at Sea’ on BBC Iplayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b0920fvl/saving-lives-at-sea

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

🛟 MAYDAY MILE COMPLETE 🛟

Friday 31st May
That's my last run done for this challenge. 36 miles and over £1000 rasied for the lifesavers at the RNLI 🤯

Thank you SO MUCH for all your donations and your support - I couldn't have done it without you.

One week to go.

Friday 24th May
Only one week to go and this month has flown in. Somehow managed to stay ahead despite having to rest a dodgy knee for a few days. Had some company on todays run which was a nice way to get back in to it. Big huge thank you to everyone who has donated since the last update - I still can't believe how many of you have supported me on this challenge, I really appreciate all of you and your generosity :)

Update

Monday 6th May
Been busy at the Queensferry Lifeboat / Port Edgar open weekend but your support has kept me motivated to stay a mile ahead. Very grateful to every single person who has sponsored and supported me on this challenge - you're all lifesavers!

Today's the day!

Wednesday 1st May
Thank you so so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far. I am blown away by the support, and it is going to such a worthy cause.

Today is day 1 of the 31 day challenge and I'm ready to get my running shoes on and run as many miles as I can to try earn every penny of all your generous donations.

The fundraiser stays open for the duration of the challenge and I will track all my runs and keep you all up to date with my progress.

Thank you again,
Becky
