I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

One day to go!

Thursday 30th May
Day 30 - my Mile a day in May is nearly there!
A trip up the road to the library to choose a new book each then wandered down to the castle for a look round, take part in the half term activities and break the rules because auntie Sarah is actually blind and the boys didn't read the notice! Oops!
Luckily no one fell into the well so we celebrated by climbing a tree and walking back home for lunch before it rained again!
2.40 miles - paused it while we were in the castle 🏰

Please give what you can - last day tomorrow!

Soggy stomping

Wednesday 22nd May
Stomping in a yellow raincoat and snow boats today in the rain with a soggy dog! Today I combined stomping with dog training specifically walking to heel without the head collar. For the whole walk! This means me keeping my eye on the dog at all times to correct him the second he attempts to lunge at a leaf/bush/lamppost. This also means I wasn't keeping an eye on the path ahead and got a face full of wet branches and leaves - more than once!
This walking lark is brought with hazards! Please sponsor me so I can pay the RNLI to keep me safe in the sea where it's clearly less hazardous than the blind one wandering around!

Oaty bloaty

Sunday 19th May
Sunday's stomp for the RNLI challenge - I had to delete a few apps as my phone said something about internal storage and this seems to have fixed my walking app! Result!
On the subject of internal storage I made overnight oats last night as I was inspired by a friend. Only I didn't Google "how too" and didn't soak them in water or milk. I just added greek yoghurt and raspberries. This was very tasty this morning but I think the oats are still expanding inside as my internal storage feels very full and my belly looks like I've eaten a football!
Please sponsor me as this being healthy stuff is clearly going to kill me!
Thank god for the awesome RNLI who'll fish me out later when I sink from the oat weight! 🫣

Dunce!

Friday 17th May
Having trouble with the walking app on my special phone (it's a TLC or a TCL I think 🤔) so it's been impossible to show evidence of the mile a day. Have ditched jogging as Derek the dodgy disc didn't approve but have continued the walking. Today on my 🦆🥚 (true story) walk I decided I must have a shin splint or a bunion or something as it was quite painful.  Nope!
When I got home and took my snow boots off (don't ask, I need trainers) I found the reason.
There was a pound coin in my boot!
I'm not sure this is quite what the RNLI meant when they asked us to raise money 💰
I did say I wasn't sporty! 🤣
Such an idiot 🫣

App fail!

Thursday 9th May
Am definitely doing my mile a day in fact mostly walking way more than a mile with the furry one but my app has failed on my phone and I've had to uninstall it! So I'll have to stick to old fashioned photo updates! Technology fail!!

Here she goes again!

Tuesday 30th Apr
Walk, jog or swim a mile every day in May depending on the weather and sea conditions! Yes I know I can walk but I'm naturally lazy! And I don't do jogging so this'll be a bit tough... And I've only ever swim just under half a mile so I'm going to have to build on that ...But!!!
As a Highcliffe Bluetit we know the importance of the RNLI so any fundraising I can do I will. At least this fundraiser doesn't involve me stripping off again!

Thank you to my Sponsors
