We're taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers
This May, we're completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.
Having experienced firsthand some of the great work that the RNLI do whilst volunteering as a Coastguard Rescue Officer for the past 13 years..
In particular one incident back in September 2015, where I responded in the early hours of the morning alongside one of our local RNLI crews to reports of a person in the water..
... After arriving on scene and speaking with the crew of the lifeboat, I established that it was actually my father in law, [Finley's grandad], who had got in to difficulties after falling in to the river whilst trying to board his yacht.
Thankfully the lifeboat crew were quickly on scene, and able to safely locate and recover him back to the lifeboat station to dry off and warm up.
The RNLI responded to our family's "Mayday".
