How your support helped the RNLI in 2024

437 Lives saved

25,327 People aided by lifeboat crews and lifeguards

9,141 Lifeboat launches

I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Last mile...

Tuesday 2nd Jun
31 May was our last mile on the Mayday Mile Challenge & I opted for a walk on the beach, v apt. Sadly, I had to leave my 4 legged sidekick Seamor at home nursing an injured paw but my Sister joined me for the walk & we decided to have a dip in the sea after to celebrate the last mile. The wind was whipping up high waves & the currents were strong so we opted for a paddle as the conditions weren't good for swimming. The strong currents & large waves were a good reminder to respect the sea, it was clear how easy even seasoned swimmers could get into difficulties. Luckily, we had gardians of the sea, the RNLI, on the beach keeping a watchful eye over everyone, making us feel safe & able to enjoy the slightly chilly dip! The Mayday Mile Challenge may have ended but Seamor & I continue our walks & with every step we take I'm so thankful to everyone who donated to the RNLI through our fundraising page. It means a lot to me but even more so to the RNLI as your donations allow them to buy much needed equipment to make sure crews have everything they need to keep themselves safe on a rescue when they put their lives at risk to save others in need. ❤️

Final Stretch

Sunday 24th May
Seven days left until Seamor & I complete our first RNLI MaydayMile Challenge. So grateful for all the donations received. Your money goes to a very worthy cause. As a charity, the RNLI relies on donations to make sure lifesavers have all the equipment needed to stay safe at sea & to rescue those in need to help.

For dad

Sunday 17th May
Seamor (the dog) & I decided to take part in this year's Mayday Mike challenge in memory of my dad who passed away last year. Dad spent his life at sea, joining the Royal Navy at 15 but his love of the sea came from watching Mumbles lifeboat launch as a young boy. Dad was a lifelong supporter of the RNLI & his awe of the brave men & women who risk their lives saving others has also passed on to me. We're so grateful for the support & kind donation from friends & family as we take part in this year's Mayday Mile.

And we're off...day 1

Friday 1st May
If you've every walked with a beagle you'll understand why I'm glad this challenge is about the miles, not speed or time of walks because we'd fail miserable with any race challenge. My boy Seamor (4 yr old beagle) likes to sniff every blade of grass so we coasted our first walk this morning, taking the time to enjoy mother nature along the way.
