I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers
This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.
During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.
By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.
Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Why I’m doing the Mayday Mile
Monday 30th MarThis May, I’m taking part in the RNLI Mayday Mile to raise vital funds for the charity that has shaped my life and my family’s history.
A Southend Legacy
For us, the RNLI is a family tradition.
My Journey: I have been volunteering at Southend Lifeboat Station for nearly 13 years, and I’m proud to say I’m still an active member of the crew there today.
My Dad’s Service: My dad is a legend in his own right, having served as a volunteer crew member at Southend for 40 years. He’s still volunteering today, proving that the commitment to saving lives never truly fades.
While I’m still part of the crew at Southend, I’ve also recently taken a huge step in my career by starting a full-time role as a Thames Commander at Gravesend Lifeboat Station.
Why I’m Fundraising This Year
Beyond our service on the boats, this year’s Mayday Mile is deeply personal:
Honouring My Grandad: We recently lost my grandad, who was our biggest supporter. He stood by my dad and me throughout our entire lifeboat careers, and I’m walking this mile to make him proud.
Supporting Neurodiversity: The RNLI goes above and beyond for its crew. They recently helped my family by funding an ADHD/Autism assessment for someone very close to me. We could never have afforded this ourselves, and it has changed our lives. I really want to show my appreciation for a charity that truly looks after its own.
Saving Lives at Sea: We are a charity, and every launch, every lifejacket, and every bit of training is funded by your generosity.
How You Can Help
Every donation—no matter the size—helps ensure that crews at stations like Southend and Gravesend can continue to save lives.
"Between my dad and me, that's 53 years of answering the pager at Southend. Help us keep that mission going."
Thank you for your support of me, my family, and the RNLI.
