I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Day 8-17

Sunday 18th May

We have continued walking but haven’t always been the best at recording, or posting. We have missed a couple of days as some days have been full, but the boys completed an 8 mile walk today to make up for it 💪🏻

Day 8 - The boys and I took a slightly random stroll to the cake shop to get our mile in before swimming. It worked and we managed it and some of us got the much needed caffeine before the joy that is swim lessons.

Day 9 - Fridays are always manic as we help run the kids club at church so no chance of walking a mile after school.

Day 10 - Too busy pool partying 🎉

Day 11 - We went to the seaside and had a quick walk up the seafront to make sure we fitted the mile into the day.

Day 12 - Marcus took the boys for a cycle whilst I did a KIT day at work, I believe that the trip out involved chocolate and I’m only slightly bitter that none was brought for me.

Day 13 - As it was Ralph’s birthday we combined the Mayday mile with Ralph’s party and completed a spy trail and the mile with an extra 5 children in tow. Fortunately we managed to return all children to their parents at the end of the trail.

Day 14 - No miles walked, still in recovery from the night before

Day 15 - Marcus took the boys for a walk before swimming, apparently there was a point where he had to crawl under a fence, unfortunately there is no photographic evidence of this.

Day 16 - Friday again.

Day 17 - The boys and I completed an eight mile walk from Newhaven station to Peacehaven and back. We went past the lifeboat station and the coastguard tower, the boys were disappointed that there was no emergency.

Update

Wednesday 7th May
Mayday Mile update - turns out completing updates is not my strength.

Day 3 - Continuing on the train theme, our mile was completed walking from the heritage railway to the pizza shop. (Pic 1&2)

Day 4 - A walk around Sheffield Park with some lovely friends. (Pic 3 - if you are not already start praying that Iris isn’t seriously injured by her brothers)

Day 5 - A short walk with the cousins, followed by my brother trying to kill me whilst jogging. (Pic 4,5,6&7)

Day 6 - We dropped a friend’s little boy home so walked had a mile walk home. (Pic 8)

Day 7 - I took Archie for a jog, he managed to fall over and injure both hands, a knee and his chest. He got a milkshake out of it and still managed to run the 3 miles he wanted to. (Pic 9&10). Marcus also reported that he cycled 7 miles around London, I just think he’s been standing around with a cup on his head (Pic 11)
