I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

Mile 31: Friday 31st May

Friday 31st May
Hello everybody, 

I did it! Mayday Mile is complete! I ran my last mile today from Wells-next-the-Sea town centre to the lifeboat station. Two people from the RNLI were waiting for me. The lady took photos and the man showed me around the boathouse. He is the coxswain and in charge of the boat. I saw the kit room and then he took me on the boat and I got to sit in the driver's seat and see the engine room too. 
It is a special lifeboat because my Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma's names are on the side of it and it's the first time we have seen it. 

Thank you everybody that has sponsored me and watched my videos all through May. I've really enjoyed every mile and we've raised a lot of money together to help save lives at sea.

Hello everybody! 

Today it rained all day and I did my mile around the campsite. I did my mile for everybody that hasn't had their name come out of my helmet yet because I've run out of days!

Hello everybody!

Today we went out all day and I did the ropes course in the tree-tops! On the way home Dad dropped me and Mom off at the lifeboat station and I ran all the way back. I made it back just in time for my dinner!

Hello everybody! 

It was rainy today but we went strawberry picking and it was undercover so I did my mile up and down the strawberry field lanes. I stopped a few times to grab a sneaky strawberry and the straw on the floor kept tickling my legs!

My mile tonight was for my friend Harry!

Hello everybody!

I've seen a real lifeboat!! Today I did my mile to the RNLI lifeboat station in Cromer which is one mile from our caravan! The lifeboat was so big! Then I got a t-shirt, a badge, a magnet and two keyrings from the shop!

I'm by the sea! It took a long time to get to Norfolk today so I did my mile around the campsite to explore! 

I missed the zipline though so I pretended there was one on the field!

Today was my last Mayday Mile on the zipline because we're going on holiday tomorrow so I'll be able to see real lifeboats!

Hello everybody! 

Today was the last day of term and my friends Toby and Ollie W came with me to run after school. We had non-uniform day today and had to wear orange so we didn't even need to get changed! Our friends Maggie and Charlie came to the park too so we played for a long time, it was great!
It was a special day at school for me because I got a headteacher's award for doing my Mayday Mile and I had to go to the headmistress's office to tell her about it.

Hello everybody,

I went to the Sealife Centre on a school trip today and then did my mile so it was a day all about the sea! 
I did my mile for my friend George today and when I got back and tried to throw my helmet over the fence it actually went over for the first time!

Hello everybody! 

It was so rainy tonight but that meant lots of puddles to splash in! Henry and Harper came with us too and we all got really wet!

I ran my mile for my friend Dylan tonight. He sponsored me with money he got doing jobs for his mom and dad so he has got to wait a bit longer to save for his Lego set now but I have said I will help him do some jobs. Thank you Dylan!

Hello everybody!

Today I went to visit Grandma and Gramps and they gave me some RNLI badges from their holiday and a sign saying Lifeboat Crew On Call. I pinned it to my t-shirt to run! It was really hot today so I definitely needed my water bottle!

Hello everybody,

Today I played in the stream and got water in my wellies so they were still all squishy when I did my run. I still wore them though so the RNLI will still get the money. 
Today I ran my mile for Charlie which was funny because he had been at my house all day playing and had only just gone home!

I was tired after school and Mommy said I don't have to keep going out but I really want to because I really want the RNLI to have lots of money.

Monday 13th May
Hello everybody!

It was hot today! I ran to the park and there was a fun day so it was so busy! We saw lots of people we know and they all knew why I was there! 
There was a pizza van so I had a quick break for a pizza and then on the way home I had a quick go on hook a duck in the fair. 
It started raining so I pretended someone was drowning in the rain and needed rescuing to make me run faster....it worked!

Hello everybody!

Today I took a litter picker on my mile and picked up a full massive bag of rubbish. I asked Mommy to get me a litter picker because I got fed up of seeing how much rubbish was in the hedges and I was worried about the hedgehogs and birds getting stuck in it.

Hello everybody!

The fair is open so I got to go on a few rides on my way home today! I am never going on the waltzers again though, they were horrid!

I won a fish at the fair and have called him Mayday.

Today was my favourite mile so far because my friend Olly Malpass's mom came and ran with me. She is super fast and good at running and has real running clothes! We did really good running and she went on the zipline too!

Thursday 9th May
Hello everybody!

I did mile 8 before beavers, it was hot! The fair is setting up on the field I run past and I can't wait until it opens. I asked everyone on Facebook to let me know if they want me to go on the waltzers and they said yes! 

Today's mile was for Olly Malpass's mom....she's running with me tomorrow! I hope I can keep up!

Mile 7

Wednesday 8th May
Hello everybody!

I did mile 7 after school and it was my hardest one so far because my legs were tired but I didn't give up!
When I was running to the playground my friend Maggie from school was driving past and they beeped me! Then her Mommy said "I know where William is going!" and they were at the zipline cheering me when I got there! 
The ice cream van was at the park and me and Henry had £5 because we helped a lady in the sweet shop pick up a tub of sweets that a man knocked over and they went all over the floor. The man said thank you for picking them up and gave us some money and Mommy said we could buy an ice-cream. Then I played on the park with my friend and ran home.

Hello everybody!

Henry wanted to run with me today so we held hands until he got tired. We ran to the playground and it started raining on the way home. I didn't care because I have a visor on my helmet.

Hello everybody!

I ran all the way to karate this morning and Henry and Harper came too! 😁 I had a quick go on the zipline on the way  and when I got there I was allowed to have a giant cookie from the vending machine! 🍪

Yesterday I talked about my challenge in assembly and reminded my friends about what the different coloured flags mean. I was a bit scared but everyone listened and gave me a clap at the end. 
I have done my mile this morning and it was a bit hard because I didn't stop much. There were some children on the zipline so I had to wait my turn but at least I got to have a little rest!

Hello everybody!
I have done my mile before school today because I am going out with my friends after school. I was the only one at the playground because it was 6.30am!
It was raining today so I got a wet bum on the zipline! But lifeguards have to get wet when there is an emergency too so that was ok.

Friday 3rd May
I have put everybody's names in my helmet who have sponsored me so I can choose one every day. The first one I picked is Gramps and Grandma. It is funny because they sponsored me first too! Gramps asked me if I am going to swim my miles with my wellies on, he is silly! I love them. Thank you Gramps and Grandma. 
Tonight I jogged to the zipline after school. I pretend it's my lifeboat station and there's an emergency so I run faster! 
It was hot so I had to stop a few times for a drink from my cup.

Thursday 2nd May
I jogged all the way to the zipline in the park and back after school. The ice-cream man was there but I didn't have one because I was too busy running! 
It was really hard to try and do it without stopping but I kept remembering the lifeguards can't stop when they have to run to an emergency.
