I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Wednesday 28th

Friday 30th May
Coming towards the end, poor Suzi is starting to get tired with all these extra walks but here we are on another adventure. Getting close to the end, hit my Mile goal and hopefully soon my donations goal.

My brother Philip who is doing this challenge with me still hasn't updated me with where he's up to we have a side challenge on of whoever does the least miles in total out of us will double their donation to the other. For me that means if I come in behind him in miles my £20 donation will become £40.

Monday 12th

Tuesday 13th May
Had Monday booked off, Suzi was napping after some training so took myself off down the canal alone, have found these walks have been really good for my mental health, I use to go jogging at midnight after working a old stressful job, been nice going for these walks during the day.

even if it's just 20 minutes I think it's really helped with depression and stress.

Saturday 10th

Tuesday 13th May
Big company event, spent 3 hours driving to it, soon as we landed basically had to jump in a taxi to the event, did manage to get a walk from where the taxi dropped us off to learndfest, so I'm counting it!

check out the view!
Fantastic event to great food and was nice to meet the team from all over the country.

Thursday 8th

Tuesday 13th May
Decided to change my walk up a bit and visited a local park with Suzi my dog. Found the one mile a day to be easy even when I was sick I could get a mile in, or on the work day where I had to work though lunch then right after lunch had commitments that stopped me going for a real walk, was still able to get a quick 20 minutes walk around the park and such.

First Week

Wednesday 7th May
First week in, and I'm already at 19 miles with my walk today still to be added!

31 Miles in 31 days which is the MayDay May challenge might have been a bit to easy haha. So now I've added a bet to this, I am doing this alongside my brother https://fundraise.rnli.org/s/17490/18542/w I've promised if he walks more miles than me I'll double my donation to him, so far I'm in the lead, but not by much.

I'd also like to raise 250 pounds by the end of the month for this charity, I don't use much in the way of social media so please share my link and help me and my brother raise 500 pounds together (250 each) to a charity run by volunteers that save lives every day and if you see me out their walking come say hi and walk with me for a bit!
