How your support helped the RNLI in 2025

Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

Keeping going in the cold

Thursday 22nd Oct
Running has never been something I’ve found easy, I was always more likely to be found sat in a clearing having got ‘lost’ in the woods during cross country. A group of us would magically appear out of some trees and ‘find’ the rest of class just in time to head back to school.
I briefly started to ‘run’ in 2019, inspired by my partner, but after completing a 5km ‘race’ and heading into the winter, all thoughts of running dropped off, long to not be seen again.
In the second half of this year I decided it was time to pick up the mantle again, with a lot of help from some friends and an incredible amount of patience and support from my partner, I started to build up some running again - this time managing an Autumnal 10km trail run-walk.
I am determined to have a goal to keep me going as we get into the depths of the winter months, and with recent backlash that the RNLI have received for putting the core of humanity, and value of life, above that differences that we all share within humanity; supporting the life saving work of the RNLI at sea is the perfect companion to keep me committed.
For some 24 miles within a window is a small step, for myself to actually get out and do it is a pretty big leap, but it’s nothing relative to the commitment and sacrifice of RNLI volunteers, out in all weathers to safeguard the lives of others.
