I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

Pirate Walk

Monday 26th May
We made it! We embarked from the RNLI Teignmouth Lifeboat Station with a hearty farewell from the lovely crew there, crossed Holcombe, Dawlish, Dawlish Warren, Cockwood and Starcross, before the ferrymen carried us over to Exmouth for the last leg of our journey to RNLI Exmouth Lifeboat Station. We cheered on the hard-working runners participating in the Teignmouth Promenade Parkrun; we caught some breakfast at the cozy Salty Dog on the coast path from Teignmouth; we joined in watching the 34046 Braunton steam train departing Dawlish Warren on its way to Kingswear; had a quick pit-stop outside Buddy's at Red Rock; hung out with a lifeguard at Funder Park; stopped for a rum/cider at The Atmospheric Railway Inn in Starcross; met the lovely RNLI fundraisers and shop staff at Exmouth; and, most importantly, met lots of lovely people (and dogs) along the way! Adventure was had, and funds were raised (we're going to count our buckets when our feet have recovered). What a great day! Thankyou to everyone who donated, wished us well, or looked after us along the way. For the arrrr-RNLI!!

Landlubbering

Monday 5th May
Three of the Exeter Pirate Day crew (myself included) will be walking from Teignmouth Lifeboat Station to Exmouth Lifeboat Station dressed in our pirate gear on the 24th to raise money for the RNLI Mayday Mile. Our hope is to attract enough attention while on the route to raise further awareness (and donations) to the cause.
