I’m taking on the Mayday Mile Challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea. Luckily for me, RNLI has accepted some big April activities and so helped me speed towards my activity goal of 31 miles by the end  of May.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. Those of us lucky enough to have boats go cruising, racing, and fishing out on the water. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

Where do your donations go?

Thursday 8th May

✅ Powering lifeboat stations
✅ Providing essential crew safety gear
✅ Fueling lifeboats for rescues
✅ Funding iconic yellow wellies!

So every £ raised by your generous donations goes to making sure RNLI volunteers have what they need to save lives. We can't go wrong. I'll keep on with my fitness activities, if you can keep on spreading the word to potential donors that RNLI needs every donation - large or small - to continue rescuing us and our pets when we get into difficulty on, in, or near the water.

Getting fitter …

Wednesday 7th May
The Mayday Mile challenge is a good way to get fitter while exploring the beautiful Sussex countryside. This was yesterday’s 7 miles + walk around part of the site of the Battle of Lewes in the 13th century. RNLI needs an awful lot of donors to help the fantastic organisation maintain its fitness, so any donation, large or small, will be gratefully received and put to good use, saving lives at sea …

This page looks good …

Tuesday 29th Apr
… but even though all fund raising and activity targets have been reached, you can still become a donor on my page. I’ll keep updating it with new activities!

Car then gym? Why not walk?

Thursday 24th Apr
Do you think people believe it’s quicker to take the car and find a park to do stuff (like shop or collect a boat’s repaired vacuum cleaner) rather than walk? Do they then go to the gym to clock up the miles on their Fitbit? Walking is so much easier, cheaper, no slower, and no nasty emissions. Just walk a mile a day in May for RNLI and you may then convert to leaving the car at home for all but long trips!

Yes, Scafell Pike and Southease Circular counted in!

Wednesday 23rd Apr
Both of my recent April activities - Scafell Pike and Southease Circular have been accepted by RNLI so I am now half way to my activity goal 😊

Ooooh, I wish my recent April activities could count towards the Mayday Miles! 😆

Tuesday 22nd Apr
Thursday, 17 April. 8.7 miles up Scafell Pike - doesn’t count 🥲
Tuesday, 22 April. 7.7 miles Southease to Rodmell Circular - doesn’t count ☹️
OR perhaps they do?

I could be halfway to the MayDay Mile target, but wrong month means I haven’t started 🙃 OR perhaps I have!
