Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

My Updates

Day Thirty One

Thursday 1st Jan
And with that the reindeer run is complete but this is not the end of my running. I am going to continue and hope to keep on improving. Thank you everyone for your donations and support!!

Day Thirty

Tuesday 30th Dec
Thought I’d do a few days updates in one. Boxing Day went on a long walk, it was unplanned but was nice. Day 28 another long walk. Day 29 consisted of football, running and 2 separate walks so a crazy day. And today was a lovely dog walk with my grandad. Can’t believe tomorrow is the last day!

Day Twenty-Five

Thursday 25th Dec
CHRISTMAS DAY!! Run through the empty Cirencester town past the Christmas nights, something about the quiet on Christmas Day which is so nice

Day Twenty Three

Tuesday 23rd Dec
As it turns out, it’s even more chaotic at home and I keep forgetting to do the blog posts. I’ve achieved my miles now so we’re going to keep going to see how many extra we can get!!

Day Fifteen

Monday 15th Dec
Back to the blog posts now my coursework is done and I’m back home, I have been adding on miles I’ve achieved still but haven’t taken the time to write any blog posts. I did my last run along Swansea seafront of the challenge, now to run around the streets of Swindon, not quite as good of a view 😂 Today’s miles were achieved with the dog too who I don’t think was best pleased by a long walk in the rain but it was still good 😊

Day Ten

Wednesday 10th Dec
Another walk to gain some more miles today, weather was decent today, not sure where the rain has gone haha. Once my coursework is done hopefully I'll be able to spend some longer time on my walks.

Day Eight

Tuesday 9th Dec
Today’s miles consisted of a walk to Swanseas winter wonderland which was amazing!! And I got to wear my big winter coat unlike when I go for my runs so I was very warm, almost too warm 😂

Day Six

Saturday 6th Dec
The weather was back in my favour today after yesterday. Decided to go in a different direction while running towards the marina and the winter wonderland (see the picture of the ferris wheel). Lights were lacking though so may need to find a slightly safer route if I go that way again. Very pleased to have added 4 more miles on today 😁

Day Four

Thursday 4th Dec
Just opted for a walk around the park which surrounds campus today, had to avoid the many puddles and the mud though but managed to get some more distance in.

Day Three

Wednesday 3rd Dec
Decided to do a run again today, was quite windy but luckily not too cold and I managed to avoid the rain. Thank you so much everyone for all your donations :)

Day Two

Tuesday 2nd Dec
First official run completed. Going to alternate running and longer walks each day which made today a running day. The rain was pouring down and thermal leggings were a good idea, but happy to have got a couple more miles completed along the sea front.

Day One

Tuesday 2nd Dec
Officially day one of the challenge and the weather in Wales was absolutely awful. Didn’t let that stop me and completed a 45 minute walk along the sea front in order to get some miles. Along with the miles at the end of November I logged I’m making good progress already. Day 2 and our first run of the challenge is upon us.

Introduction

Monday 17th Nov
Hi I’m Hanna and I’m covering 24 miles in December for the 24 hours the RNLI are on call every single day including Christmas Day helping to save countless lives. My goal however is 31 miles which is a mile a day for the entire months but I’m going to achieve as many miles as possible. As a family we have always supported the RNLI and enjoyed looking at the lifeboat stations so hopefully with your help we can raise some more money for them. :)
