Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers
RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.
Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.
Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

What’s the challenge and why?…
Sunday 30th NovThis December through advent I am taking on the RNLI’s Reindeer Run challenge. Now I’m no runner and probably never will be but I will be briskly walking the mile each day with a 7kg backpack to represent the weight of equipment carried by RNLI team on call outs (dry suits etc). The RNLI are a fantastic cause who keep our coastal areas along with some rivers and lochs safe for all those who get caught out by the changing nature of the sea. We never know when we might need them but it’s amazing to know they are ready to save lives whenever they are needed.
There’s a verse in the Bible which says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend” (John 15:13). For me advent is a time to reflect and remember God coming down in human form into His creation in humble beginnings to ultimately lay down His life for us. The RNLI volunteers face harsh conditions in the winter and each call out potentially means putting their life in danger to rescue those who are lost at sea. Through this challenge I will be reflecting on both the amazing work of the brave RNLI volunteers along with this time of advent and my faith.
Any donations towards the RNLI and the wonderful work they do would be hugely appreciated especially as I recognise finances are often tight this time of year.
