I AmTaking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers

I am Janette and I am blind, this December I plan to walk each day accompanied by my guide dog Esme to raise money for RNLI a cause close to my heart.

My father's mother comes from Cromer and one of his first memories was of helping to hold a lit lantern to help the rescue boats bring back survivors from a wreck on the Norfolk coast.  He said his Grandfather won on one of the boats, a rowing boat and he joked that there were always two sterns on the boat as that was his Grandfather's surname.

This is a story  volunteer crew,  To say I am proud is an understatement.

up with and now my son is following in his ancestors footsteps by being a member of Loch Ness RNLI.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so crews  have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

My Updates

final total 31 December 2025

Wednesday 31st Dec
I am chuffed I have managed to walk with my guide dog esme this month for rNLI although navigating this page with a screen reader was so hard and found the method of recording miles etc not easy at all.

Here is my weekly total of the miles I walked some days I was just under the mile due to either the bad weather and icy paths  or was not feelin well.  I even forgot to record the mileage a couple of days so did not include those days.

My weekly totals are:
1st week 17.15 miles
2nd Week 11.99 miles
3rd week   16.07 miles
Fourth week. 13.87 miles
this week 5.45 miles

my final total for December is :

64.53 miles if my mental arithmetic is correct.

I am hoping others may be able to donate to this worthy cause and will add £65 of my own money to the total for each mile I walked this month.

Thanks to all who have already donated it is very much appreciated  as every single penny counts to support all of the Lifeboat stations throughout the UK and particularly the one closest to my heart Loch Ness Life Boat Station where my son is a volunteer and hope my support goes a little way to support all of the. crew  and support staff at Loch Ness.

Love and hugs and my thanks

Highland Walking

Wednesday 10th Dec
I recently walked with the Highland Blind walking Group in Inverness. It was great to meet up with other blind people and to walk even when it was wet and wild.

GD Esme liked the walk and  we managed a few miles wallking over the bridges and around the Ness Islands.

If you wish to support our efforts to help save lives at sea and also inland waterways then please visit my page to support RNLI

My son volunteers for RNLI Loch Ness

Thanks

walking update

Friday 5th Dec
I cannot figure how to add in my walking distances for each day but may need to do a screenshot at teh end of the month onto here.

I have walked over ten miles so far this week not including my usual walking to and from shops etc.

I hope to get more walking done sthis weekend and also get some more sponsors too.

Thanks.

Loch Ness RNLI

Friday 24th Oct
Loch Ness Stats  and the reason I am fundraising for this charity.  Each life is precious to us and each life saved is even more precious to their friends and family.

Ready Steady -

Thursday 23rd Oct
I am taking on this challenge to help raise money for RNLI.  I do hope my efforts go a long way to assist crews around the UK but specifically to help rNLI Loch Ness.

This is a personal reason for me as my son is part of the volunteer crew.  I have seen the Loch Ness crew in action when on exercise on Loch Ness and it was both a pleasure and a delight to see them in action under safe conditions and not for a real sHOUT!

Putting your life at risk for others for me is a special thing to do and cannot help but praise all who get involved with rNLI at all levels.

So this is the reason I will step out in december to raise funds to keep my son in Wellies " as I say to my friends.  Of course it is so much than a pair of wellies but the special people who wear them.

Please pop a donation if you are able and if not just cheer me and my guide dog Esme along through December

Thanks.
