Taking on the Reindeer Run challenge for RNLI lifesavers

RNLI supporters around the country will be donning their antlers and strapping up their hooves to run 24 miles – all to help keep RNLI volunteers safe this winter.

Freezing seas, numbing winds and sub-zero temperatures – would you fancy launching into that aboard a lifeboat? RNLI crews will be doing just that, battling the elements this winter to continue their mission to save every one.

Reindeer Runners will be raising money so they have everything they need to answer the call for help. Because no matter how harsh the winter weather might be, lifeboat crews will always launch to the rescue. I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me.

My Updates

24 miles done

Monday 15th Dec
24 miles done. I may not have run them all but it’s shown me the limitations in my own body. However this has pushed me to better myself and look towards next years event.
Thank you to everyone that donated. My employer will double the final total. So that should be £630 for the RNLI.

Monday morning

Monday 8th Dec
Another Walk to work.

Hopefully get some runs in soon. Just need to not have such a knackered body.

Paxton pits today

Sunday 7th Dec
A very wet and soggy walk around Paxton Pits today.

Weekend walk

Saturday 6th Dec
Weekend walk as I’m still awaiting my runners to arrive.

Day 4

Thursday 4th Dec
Had to walk it today. Started to get pain in my Shins. Under advisory from my wife I’ve had to have a break from the running today.
I’ve also had to buy new “running” shoes. Apparently not all trainers are for running. Chalk that one up to fat guy doesn’t do running!
Will add another mile later to make up for my lack of running today. I know the idea is to Run as much as possible which Intend to do when my body allows.

Day 3 mile

Wednesday 3rd Dec
Still hate running! Beat my best time.
280lb of man was not meant to run. 🤣

Day 2 one mile done this morning

Tuesday 2nd Dec
As a complete non runner this is really hard on my body. It’s a mix of jog walk jog walk jog swear at the person who invented running. Worth it though to help find those saving lives at sea.

I feel terrible!

Monday 1st Dec
Uuuughhhh a short sprint to work this morning. Need to do this before breakfast.

Reached the fundraising goal

Thursday 27th Nov
Fantastic news and some very generous donations. I’m not going to stop there I’m hoping to see more come in when the challenge starts.
