I’m taking on the Mayday Mile challenge to support RNLI volunteers

This May, I’m completing a mile-a-day challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea.

During summertime, more people flock to beaches and coastal towns to make the most of everything they have to offer – from glorious sunshine to adventurous watersports. And as temperatures rise, so do calls from people in trouble in the water.

By answering this Mayday call and giving a gift today, you can make a real, lifesaving difference. Your kindness will help give volunteers everything they need to launch to the rescue, and make sure they’re ready to face their busiest season.

Will you sponsor my RNLI Mayday Mile challenge and support the courageous crews?

My Updates

I’ve surpassed my distance goal!

Wednesday 29th May
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my walks, with my husband and a work colleague who has become a dear friend and as a result, surpassed my distance goal a week before the end of the month. I must admit, I’m rather proud of my achievement. Along the way there have been some great conversations and beautiful sights. My walks have taken me on a former train line turned walking path, through our village and along the beach. When the Mayday Mile challenge ends in a couple of days, I think it’s safe to say that I will continue to walk during my lunch break, even if on my own and not to raise money for a worthy cause. Thank you for your support and encouragement, it has been felt and appreciated.

A lovely evening walk

Saturday 4th May
My husband joined me for an evening walk around our town, finding a new path that led to a rickety bridge into a hidden courtyard of shops. On our way home we stopped in at our favourite pub to rehydrate. I wonder where we will explore next.

Off to a good start

Thursday 2nd May
My friend and work colleague Virginia joined me yesterday for our first walk in a nearby park, during our lunch break to kick off our MaydayMile challenge. Tonight’s walk was to the polling station so my husband could vote in the local elections and then we walked to our favourite Indian restaurant for dinner. I wonder where my walk tomorrow will take me. Come and join us as we raise money for the RNLI.
